Brilliant death bowling?how do you not get over 200 when you have wickets in hand and you bat the whole 50 overs?

Bond is usually a terrible death bowler...Indeed. Bonds performance wasn't overly surprising. But Patel was a big surprise. He bowled well, adjusted well to the batsmen charging him, and showed he has the skills to bowl well at the death. Patel outshone Vettori today, even of he didn't pick up a wicket and Vettori did.
Since they scored 92 off 12.2 overs that wasn't going to have much impact on their overall 'for' total in the NRR calculation which is currently 1145/173.3 = 6.599. Before that it was 1053/161.1 = 6.534. Note that those overs against Ireland only make up 7% of their 'for' total because they only batted 12.2 overs. If they bat 50 overs the runs they make against Ireland make up nearly 24% of their 'for' total. If Australia score at the same rate for 50 overs against Ireland they make 373 their 'for' run rate increases to 6.753.Ponting did elect to field keeping the NRR in mind.
Fair point. Made absolutely zero sense fielding then if NRR was meant to be increased.Since they scored 92 off 12.2 overs that wasn't going to have much impact on their overall 'for' total in the NRR calculation which is currently 1145/173.3 = 6.599. Australia vs NZ/SL in the final for me. There's nothing between NZ and SL at the moment, and both teams have surprised me in their level of professionalism. It's shaping up to be a great World Cup Final, and I would love for any team out of these three to go on and win it.
U forgot we have Bond....Hoping SL win the CUp. NZL are a very good team but I do think the Aussies will be happier to face NZL than SL in the final.
SL have that bit of X-Factor which I think NZL and RSA don't. Australia understand the Kiwi and Saffie gameplans very well but with SL, they're a bit more unpredictable.
Glenn upto his usual pre match mind games, you think ...Glen McGrath thinks Sri Lanka would test the Aussies: http://content-aus.cricinfo.com/australia/content/story/290493.html
What? Both of them? That's just a vicious rumour, surely?I think Bond and Franklin were pitching it up fuller
