100 off 150 plus balls ...I would not give MOM -if anything he slowed NZ from getting a further 30 that could've made it more closer or even a match winning one.

For a guy who had batted from nearly the 3rd over or so till the 50th Over - thats too slow for an ODI ... a bit like the KP knock against Australia ...100 but no Cigar ... pointless, IMO if you cannot accelerate and go up a few gears after playing such a long innings.
For christ's sake Jason, the man saved the Black Cap's arse. Give him some bloody credit.

Fleming decision was bad.
Fulton was plumb.
Styris was caught behind.
McCullum didnt hit it.

Huh? LBW???

EDIT: Haha, Rauf is horrible. Sri Lanka appeal for the catch even though McCullum didnt hit it, and Rauf gives him out LBW, when it was quite questionable.

All i can do is LOL
While I agree that seemed a bit dubious because the SL appeared to be appealing for a bat pad , the Hawk eye suggested it was a plumb LBW . Rauff must be given some credit, despite the confusion.

Think of it like this had a Bangladeshi played a knock like McMillan did they would of beaten England the other day. I think he played a fine innings from the position they were in and when you have bowlers like Bond and Vettori any total above 200 is defend able.

Exactly -- without Styris (or even if he was given out caught-behind), NZ would most probably have been bowled out for 150. At least they made a match of it.

Still, I'm not complaining that Chaminda got it -- he's one of my favourite cricketers, after all :)

On Styris' innings - although you can't blame him for the fact that we only made 220, I think he (and Oram too for that matter) missed out on an awful lot of singles off Dilshan and Jayasuriya by hitting it straight to mid-wicket. For some reason all our batsman seem to prefer trying to milk the spinners square of the wicket rather than down the ground, and as a result they're hitting balls to mid-wicket rather than long-on, or to extra cover instead of long-off.

Something else I noticed - during the Powerplays, Sri Lanka's fieldsmen inside the circle, especially mid-on and mid-off, were right back on the edge of the circle, and I thought we could have taken a lot more singles by dropping and running. That's something that Lou Vincent has been doing very well since he came back into the team and I'd like to see more of that from Fleming and Fulton.

In what way?
You probably wouldn't get it, but forum member Matteh (Mat Mitchell is his real name) is famous for having a beard, so when I saw the beards the said two New Zealander players were growing I thought of it straight away (means I need a life) and it was some reference to it.

Mark it as number 45623421 dire attempts to be funny

Aussies have won the toss and elected to field, they have made only one change Clark comes in place of Bracken.

What's with all these teams electing to field first against the minnows? I think Ireland's victory over Pakistan has made teams paranoid that if they lose a couple of early wickets, they could be humiliated. Just look to bat first and make 300 FFS, game over. Even if you can't actually make 300 against the minnows, if you can't even back yourself to do it then you've got problems.

Having said that, I'm sure that's not what's going on with Ponting. I think he just wants to get the game over and done with, which is fair enough.
