no sarcasm, I think you just misread my post, it was a strange decision considering we are playing extra seamer.
You said "It was considering" like you were justifying it. A comma after "It was" would have made the difference between completely miscomprehending it and understanding it clearly.

"Does anyone else think it was a strange decision to bat first after winning the toss by Fleming?"

"It was (a strange decision) considering we are playing the extra seamer instead of the spinner."

Agreed. Fancy South Africa to beat us by 200 runs TBH.

That's not the optimist I know??? Don't write us off yet. As has been said, a win is a win. Bangladesh have beaten India and South Africa in this tournament, they have both tonked us in recent times. Let's be positive: we can beat South Africa.

My gut feeling does tell me we'll beat the Saffies then lose to the Windies mind you

Yeah, ridculous really. Englands NRR should basically have stayed the same or gone down, because of their slow and rubbish batting.
Don't understand this really, we won the game, so scored more runs, so obviously our net run rate will go up?

If Mahmood,Anderson and Freddie can be so lethal on that Barbados pitch you can just imagine how dangerous the likes of Pollock, Ntini and Co. would be on that pitch.
I think you undererstimate Flintoff and Anderson who are both fine ODI bowlers. Particularly Flintoff, who is obviously one of the best bowlers in the world.

Styris shaking his head there, was it for the poor shot he played or was he showing everyone he didn't hit the ball.

In my eyes, the tounament proper finally starts tonight.

From here on in we have NZL vs SRL, NZL vs RSA, AUS vs SRL, NZL vs AUS. The battle of the TOP 4 teams left in the WC. Any of the 4 matches could go either way, what unfolds over the next week or so will sort out who faces who, and who will go into the semis as favourites.

Big game tonight, can't wait.
That's kind of assuming that those four side will go through. There's no reason to think we can't beat South Africa. We beat the Aussies in Australia this year, remember? I know we've been, um, mediocre on the mostpart so far, but to write us off while we're still very much in it is silly. Remember 92, and 99.

Probably at the ridiculous, 5-barrelled overappealling that he was shaking his head at and probably why the umpire didn't give it out....or maybe because he was wondering why it wasn't called a wide

Not out of the question but highly, highly unlikely
