We got the job done in the end, have faithYeah, ridculous really. Englands NRR should basically have stayed the same or gone down, because of their slow and rubbish batting.

Which is why it should have stayed the same. Batting slowly should be a negative thing, not non-effective. It should basically be like this.hahaha..why? Maybe we should just get a panel of 4 judges to give teams marks out of 10 for batting prowess, instead of having NRR (which remember includes a teams bowling performances as well)
Yeah, the Bangers side might even have more experience than England in ODIs and their record is certainly not that much worse than England's if truth be told.indeed...although I really do think everyone is being a bit patronising when it comes to B'desh now. Lets face it, a win is a win, and England did get B'desh out cheaply (remember B'desh have already dismissed SA and India for under 200 this WC).
If this had been a win against SA in this manner, I dont think anyone would be saying words like ghastly, dire or feeble....and sure B'desh arent South Africa, B'desh are the team that just whipped South Africas ass.
So maybe a bit more credit to B'desh here for a good performance second half.
Can we call that the Bangers v Mash game?Yeah, the Bangers side might even have more experience than England in ODIs and their record is certainly not that much worse than England's if truth be told.
Terrible performance but Bangladesh aren't as shabby as people make out. After the bowling, we should have mauled them but a win is a win.
I dont really understand...Net Run rate is what it is.Which is why it should have stayed the same. Batting slowly should be a negative thing, not non-effective. It should basically be like this.
Scoring quickly - NRR +
Scoring slowly - NRR -
Bowling out the opposition quickly - NRR +
Bowling out the opposition - NRR -
Opposition having a low RR - NRR +
Oppostion having a low RR - NRR -
Easy as that.
England would have 8 points to SA's 6 anyway if that happens. The key thing is for England to beat SA and match SA's result against NZ when England play WI. England already have a NRR edge that's equivalent to a margin of over 50 runs in a game. If England beat SA then the NRR will go in favour of England, tho SA could have thrashed NZ by then.Simple equation for England to make the semis now. Need to beat both SA and West Indies and for NZ to beat SA and they are in. NRR will remain above SA if that happens. Not out of the question by any means.
Right you areEngland would have 8 points to SA's 6 anyway if that happens. The key thing is for England to beat SA and match SA's result against NZ when England play WI. England already have a NRR edge that's equivalent to a margin of over 50 runs in a game. If England beat SA then that edge will get bigger (the +/- NRRs might actually get closer, but the actual buffer England will have going into the last game would still get bigger).
I'm not sure how NRR is relevant to be honest. This has totally ****ed up our NRR. We need to post like 600 against SA to make it decent.
How should it have gone down when by definition of having won, they've scored quicker than their opponents?Yeah, ridculous really. Englands NRR should basically have stayed the same or gone down, because of their slow and rubbish batting.
I'm sure there's a forum member who'd put his hand up to be one of the judges...hahaha..why? Maybe we should just get a panel of 4 judges to give teams marks out of 10 for batting prowess, instead of having NRR (which remember includes a teams bowling performances as well)
Even then we are thinking back 10 years!Speaking of Bangers and Mash, there's no doubt in my mind which team were Bodger and which team were Badger in the game today.
Only English people might understand that.
Hmmm, so I saw your name for the last post in this thread. Was surprised you were still posting since India is long gone out of the tournament and all the numerous discussions surrounding it as well, and now there was really no way possible for you to criticize them. Anyways, decided to check it out, since I've barely ever seen you post anything other than your negative views on Indian cricket. Its really good cricket from Bangladesh. I dont think Indians will perform even to the class of Bangladesh had they entered S8
You're assuming England qualify hereWhat is with assuming that Sri Lanka has a free pass into the Semi's....
With a loss to Aus and NZ and a win against Ireland they would have 8 points
With a bad loss to either or both their Nrr wouldnt be fantastic either...
Sa now plays Eng and New Zealand and I would back them to beat at least one if not both....
I wouldnt Rate Sri Lanka's chances above SA's except for their higher Nrr, On the other Hand if their batsmen (Jayawardene and Jayasuriya exepted) again fail to fire and their bowlers cant pull off more miracles then their could be a big loss or two coming up..... goodbye Nrr
Rant ended
They won by 5 wickets with 5 overs to spare. That's a pretty convincing win IMO.This English side is a hopeless bunch, i mean they should have chased down the 140 odd with ease in order to improve their NRR but they limped through to the target, a very unconvincing win for England to say the least.
Seriously i can't see England beating South Africa on their current form, but it would be fun to see KP v/s South Africa because the last time when these 2 teams meet South Africans had a lot to say to KP.
