Franklin and McCullum rescued things a bit there.

I don't think Fleming will be happy with the way his team gave away their wickets.

Fulton played OK, but he really needs to turn the strike over more. I got the feeling that he was dead batting it quite a lot. And with wickets falling at the other end it put extra pressure on the incoming batsmen to create some momentum.

You could tell that they went out there with and attitude that they would get 300+ with no problems, instead of just goin out there and approaching the game as they normally would.

Great stuff from Ireland, showing a lot of heart, it got away on them at the end, but I still think they should be proud of their effort.

They were going alright when Bell and Pietersen were batting, wouldn't say they were on top and they were certainly never on top at any point in the 2nd innings
if you are 160/2 before the 30 over stage, with two set batsmen in the process of of 130 run partnership, I dont care who you are playing and what pitch you are on, you are on top.

And whilst they might not have been favourites at any point during the second innings it was not inconceivable that England could win ever after the half way stage of that innings, that all I am saying.

There is a massive difference between losing by a couple of overs and losing by 90 runs.(like SA did)

I'll agree that the scorecard looked pretty good at 160/2 but you always knew Aus were capable of swinging the momentum and from that point on it was all Australia. They cruised towards the target without ever having to do anything risky during their innings

Argh, dont ya hate it when that happens.

He was probably OUT there, but the ball hit the wickets in between frames :@

Bray's one hit wonder World Cup continues, only solace for Jeremy was that it wasn't his third pair.

And there goes Morgan, to a nick you could hear from here.

It's looking grim for Ireland now. We haven't yet seen a team bowled out for under 100, but I have a feeling it could happen today.

Its so stupid how they dont go to the 3rd umpire for catches like that. I mean, how can the square leg umpire seriously see something that close in real time.

And its not like you're wasting much time, just refering to the other umpire wastes time in itself.

All that being said, it was probably the correct call, but still......
If the World Cup was on the line, I would want that referred to the 3rd Umpire.

Also, NZ hitting the stumps regularly! Good signs

lol:

Styris to NJ O'Brien, OUT, oh that's quite a mess. Two brothers involved in a run-out. If this had happened in the backyard ... Niall pushes to the off side and thinks of a single, Kevin responds and is too far down the track as Marshall swoops down to return the ball to Styris, the bowler. The bails are off and Kevin is well short. If mama 'O brien is watching, she wouldn't really be too impressed. Nial sold Kevin the dummy there

cricinfo's commentry seems got better and funny these days:

32.3 Patel to NJ O'Brien, OUT, Niall is gone. He can go in and explain to his brother about that run out. Tossed-up, on the middle stump line and Niall tried to slog-sweep it across the line, doesn't get under it and sends it straight to deep midwicket
