Yeah but tbf this pitch is looking a belter to bat on, mind you that may just because England are bowling.
It does, as I said anything under 240/50 is more than obtainable. Although, Sri Lanka have rebuilt well and they will be looking for at least 260 plus.

More than 250 isn't beyond us, I wouldn't be too worried with us chasing anything under 300 tbh. It's defending scores that I have concerns with.

Jesus what a soporific affair. Hit out or get out - this is World Cup, for crap's sake. There's people watchin'!

50 for Tharanga, tough going but he has played more positively since the food and drink bowlers have arrived.

Looking at the way Collingwood has bowled through the WC and 2nd stage of CB Series, i think Aussies should bowl Hussey in this WC too.

Monty bowling poorly, has to be said, I await SPs gloating with bated breath:happy:

Honestly though, this is a 280+ wicket really, not sure why the Lankans went so conservatively for a while, they could of racked up a much more formidable total, if they'd gone guns blazing.

I guess it just shows how important the saj wickets were, with two top players out, they felt they needed too consolidate.

Of course according to some, wickets don't matter in ODIs:ph34r:

Sri Lanka to get 280-300

This game is one of the best adverts for 20-20.

Defensive bowling and conservative batting. Everything is just being set for the last 10-15 overs. What a waste of time and effort the last 2 hrs have been.

Should liven up now though

Looking at the Collingwood has bowled so far i believe Aussies need to start bowling Hussey a lot more in this WC.
Funny you would say such a thing on the day Collingwood give his worst performance with the ball (up until his second spell :) ).

Couldn't agree more, games like this bore the hell out of everyone. I'd quite like it to be mandatory that at least one of the PowerPlays be taken after the 20th over, TBH, seeing as captains haven't cottoned on yet to the reasons why they were introduced.

I'm resigned to "watching" through the Grauniad and Cricinfo :(

It seems as though the outfield's pretty sandy, with lofted shots just stopping short of the boundaries.

Bugger. You see? That's why Tharanga was playing it cool :(

One of those games was restricted to ten overs per side (hence the high strike rate) and his last game was against Ireland. He failed in his only fifty over contest against county opposition.
Yeah, we all know how bad they are. :p

He's not made a single-digit score in one-day cricket since England A toured the subcontinent in March 2005 (and averages 57, slogfests or not). He's clearly grown as a batsman since then, but his OD average is still dire (well, 29) because a) Essex wouldn't consider him in 2005 due to the runs he didn't get in early April 2004 and b) Essex couldn't play him in 2006 because he was playing international cricket.

Can agree that he can't hit singles though. (Which doesn't stop them selecting Bell and Vaughan.)
