New South Wales in tatters as Black domination continues

New South Wales put in a surprisingly lackluster effort against the touring party, as they were crushed by and innings 301 runs. Despite going in as slight favourites, the NSW side failed to convince in any aspect of their cricket, and were soundly beaten by a Black unit high on confidence.

Dan Smith again won the toss and chose to bat first, on a pitch which promised early seam and some help for the spinners later in the game. Markus started quickly, depositing Nicolson and Bracken for 3 boundaries in quick time before falling for 12. Smith and Cloete then punished the poor bowling, both posting centuries in a 180 run stand for the 2nd wicket. Cloete was the first to go, for 102 at quicker than a run a ball. Smith finally fell for 117, and the lower order set about adding to the pain for the NSW bowlers, who just couldn't land the ball properly. McMeekin and Armstrong both posted half centuries, and an immense 123* from Zac Gelman helped the tourists to 661. It would take some effort from NSW to dull the pain.

Jaques started the innings like a house on fire, scoring 27 in ridiculously quick time before Borcich and Donald tore through the top and middle order. At one stage, NSW were 7/96 and Borcich and Donald had 4 and 3 wickets respectively. The NSW lower order added some respectablility to the total, with 42* from Nathan Bracken, but Richards cleaned up the tail and the Blues were all out for 145, and staring down the barrell.

After being asked to follow on, Jaques and Cowan added 71 for the first wicket before Cowan was run out is a terrible mix-up. Jaques fell soon after, and despite a fighting 51 from skipper Simon Katich, NSW were again bundled out, this time for 223, as George Roberts bowled 4 overs for 4 wickets, wrapping up the tail and a massive victory for the tourists.

It's not my fault the career stats for most aussie bowlers are terrible. WA will struggle.

I'll start editing career stats for the Aus bowlers to be ridiculously better than they are for the rest of the tour.

Wow, that was a monstrous first innings with Smith, Cloete and Gelman all tonning up. Solid performance guys, and I don't think we should have to fiddle with the averages to prop up the obviously poor Australian domestic circuit.

What about one taking into account that their standard of competition is much higher than ours, ours is about relative in talent level to New Zealand's system.

he he, this makes me chuckle.... A dev league team totally annihilating everything in Australia (the best cricketing nation by a long shot).

Isn't the most realistic, but Smith's doing a killer job for the Black's by doing all this off his own back (sorry, had to say it :().
