England v/s Ireland

England have won the toss and elected to bat.

One thing i can't understand is why can't Strauss come into the team at the expense of Bell at no.3, probably Bell is also one of Fletcher's favourites.

Baffling to the mind to suggest why Mahmood is playing ahead of either Lewis or Plunkett. Really would have thought it was a two horse race...
He couldn't have been anymore abject against Kenya and he still plays... Really pisses me off because Plunkett took wickets and bowled adequately and did well with the bat, his figures look worse because Vaughan is too stupid to use him when the ball is swinging.

Lewis and Plunkett are being punished for their late-might drinking episode, obviously headed by Freddie.

Because Bell is infinitely better as a one day batsman.

If Strauss comes in for anyone, it's gotta be Vaughan.

Joyce gone!

And I still don't know what Flintoff is doing at #6.

More brilliance from Joyce :@
He's beginning to make Strauss look like a golden age of oneday batsmanship.

Ireland has hunger to do well at this level (even with their limited resources) which has been missing from the English team for some time now.

Must have been my imagination England beating Australia last month?

Flintoff doesn't have the technique to bat higher than 5 really, and Collingwood's form leading in to this match doesn't suggest he should be lower down the order than Flintoff.

There really isn't much in it between Strauss and Vaughan as ODI players IMO - they're both below par, but with Vaughan's added captaincy prowess, it's a no-brainer. I don't see why anyone would ever try to look for a spot to squeeze Strauss into regarding the ODI team - England should count their blessings that they don't have to play the guy anymore.
