query

Im confused about the nets i give my players....last week i gave my "18"yr old

stuart keane 1 batting and 1 fielding net and his rating improved by 254 points after

the training update....this week i gave my "17"yr old 4 batting nets and 1 fielding net

and his BTR improved by just 102 points..in both cases with 5 psychologists...could

someone please tell me why?

Also i wanted to know if giving a lot of nets to a player affects his PFL and he then

improves at a slower rate...?

Wats the ideal number of nets to give a player for the fastest improvement in a

primary?

If he plays in a league/friendly match during the week does it affect his chance of

popping in anyway?

I would really like to know the reasons/possible answers...

How long does it take for a 17yo to pop with two primary nets?

One of mine has received 7 weeks of two nets, thought it was 7? He was on two nets when he popped too so thought some overlap might mean he was nailed on for 7 weeks. Means he won't be superb by the time the season finishes. :(

Oh, and Whitehorne popped to strong experience at some point last week. Think Crawford popped to mediocre experience as well, but he might've always been on that.

WHAT'S THAT COMING OVER THE HILL? IS IT A MONSTER?

Who's Your Daddy and Blue Royster Cult, the leaders of IV.11 and The Blind Cricket Challenge respectively, are looking over their shoulders today after Cymru Gurgitaters dramatically hit top form to overturn both title favourites. The two wins on the road in just three days blew both competitions wide open and set up the prospect of an unlikely double, which few Gurs fans would have dared possible just a month ago.

The man boarding the coach with a jeroboam under each arm was Rem/Prof Bat, Doug Greening, after his weekend's haul of 249 runs saw him collect a brace of Man of the Match awards. His 125 (115, 12x4 2x6) anchored a faltering Gurs innings of 242 A/O, after being inserted by Who's Your Daddy in Friday's league encounter. The scorecard reveals just how large a debt of gratitude his team-mates owe him, with the next largest score being Qual/Strong Staveley's 32.

"Obviously it's nice to be in the runs myself, but I really do believe that it was just my turn, and that another week 'Towers' (Alton Staveley) or 'Dindins (Strong/Sup Joe Noon) will come good. To be honest with you, Joe and I had no problems out there, he just hit a silly shot. I really think when our partnership gels properly it's going to be scarily good!"

yet touching as his faith in his team-mates is, and prophetic as his words at Friday's post-match press conference turned out to be, in reality there is no disguising an increasing over-reliance on Greening's runs, to counter both a lack of depth in the batting order, and the complete absence of a genuine front-line bowler. However, they're questions for another day - Particularly so should Cymru Gurgitaters actually get promoted to Division III - But this weekend was all about enjoying the moment.

The Gurs' set about the defence of their modest total in terrier-like fashion, Qual/Prof LM Bewers continuing his renaissance by removing both Strong Who's Your Daddy openers before fifteen runs were on the board. That was a sucker-punch from which they never truly recovered, despite a partnership of 90 for the third wicket between Qual Wikus (59) and Rem Anderson (34), as well as 50 for the fifth wicket from Sup Dike (31) with Strong Bracy (28). Once again the tandem spin of Strong/Prof Cash and Sup/Prof Bridges M strangled their opponents into submission, as they claimed five wickets between them at less than four an over, on a green-top! Under-Fire Resp/Feeb RFM Bent added the coup de gras by bagging three tail-end wickets, to leave Who's Your Daddy 195 A/O.

Who's Your Daddy just about still lead the way in IV.11, but now only by 0.02 on NRR from Hoveshire Hawks, with The Gurs four points and NRR 2.05 further back in third. Of the three, Cymru Gurgitaters have by far the easiest run-in, but on the other hand they do still need other results to go for them if they're to have a tilt at a promotion playoff. Chief amongst those other results, they require Hoveshire Hawks to repeat their early-season success over Who's Your Daddy when they meet in Round 14 in a thrilling season's finale - But how crucial now is Hoveshire Hawks' appointment at Cymru Gurgitaters CG this coming Friday? Gurs skipper Strong/Resp Bat Neale Patel is playing down the significance!

"After losing three of our first five matches we shouldn't even have a shot at the title, so in that respect everything from here on in is a bonus. Yeah, there's a bit of nervous excitement around the place- But nothing like the kind'a pressure that must be on Who's Your daddy and Hoveshire Hawks - God alone knows what must be going on in those guys' heads?! They've had it pretty much their own way all season, then we come up on the rails…Scary stuff! But it's still theirs to lose, all we can do is take care of our games, and whatever will happen will happen elsewhere. We've got to focus on the Blind Cricket challenge really, where our destiny is very much in our own hands now."

And thanks for the fact that the Gurs' Blind Cricket Challenge destiny remains in their own hands must once again go to the irrepressible Greening, who's clinical 124 (130), headed the Gurs' cavalry charge on Blue Royster Cult's seemingly impenetrable 305/6 (Bewers 3/43), on a day on which records tumbled like foot-soldiers.

Earlier England NT star Francis Daniell failed to live up to his £96K P/W price-tag, striking a century, (112*/109), but looking slightly pedestrian as he was first out-scored by Qual Wade, (47/45), then failed to secure enough of the strike in his marathon 3rd wicket stand of 178 with Wond Rutherford (105/110). As a consequence only 79/4 was scored in the slog overs, from a position of total dominance which should probably have yielded over 100.

But it was nevertheless a daunting task which awaited openers Greening and Noon - not that you'd have noticed from the way they waded into a toothless Blue Royster Cult attack, bereft by the sale of South African NT quick, John Cameron. Throughout the early exchanges Noon played Scrappy-Doo to Greenings Scooby, bludgeoning 117 in a breathless 35 over, 228 run opening stand, which should have made the game all but a formality. Yet when Noon's departure was followed in short order by Patel, for a second ball six, few in the travelling contingent dare breathe, lest they blew down the deck of cards in a Battrick trademark collapse. But Staveley (48*/28, 5x4, 2x6) took a distinct liking to the net bowling of Comp RFM Alfred during the slog overs, and not even a miserly performance of 1/41 from Qual RF Pipt at the other end could arrest The Gurs' advance, as they eventually cantered over the line with two overs to spare. The only casualty in the final push was Greening himself, as he was hit in front off Pipt, demonstrating the sort of weary footwork you'd expect from a man who'd been at the crease for 91 of his side's last 94 overs.

"Totally gutted not to have been out there at the end, maybe that's something I've got to work at if I'm going to open, getting back in the gym to get my stamina up to Respectable. But like the gaffer said, if I've got to have a weakness, then I guess the 120s isn't a bad place to have it...I definitely want to keep opening, yes there's pressure, but it's different, there's only the pressure you put on yourself. Since I've been at the top of the order it's all clicked into place for me, and I've had…What?...Six tons in my last eight knocks - Let's just hope we can get some silverware in the cabinet, and who knows, maybe I can see how I'll get on in Division Three next season!"

The Gurs remain in second spot in the Blind Cricket Challenge table, level on points with Blue Royster Cult, with a game in hand, but an enormous 5.33 worse off on NRR. So it's looking very much as though they'll have to produce something similar when BRC travel to Wales in late April. As for promotion? The Gurs are still a Superb+ batsman and at least one bowler short of being a competitive Division III team, so who knows if it'd be entirely a bad thing if those other results didn't go their way. The important thing for Patel and his men now, is to make sure they carry their new-found momentum into next season, so they don't find their fate once again in other people's hands.

well, the bidding war for tim jeffers (superb bowl, respectable cons, proficient stam) is over. the bidding went a bit crazy so i felt that it would be in my teams best interests if i opted to cease bidding. he sold for £4,775,439, after i originally felt 3.5 would be a realistic price for him. on the bright side, this probably means that i will be able to get something similiar for ian patterson.

speaking of patterson btw, he was my lone pop at today's training. i've listed him for £3.25mil which i feel is a realistic price based on what i have just seen. i'm hoping that i'll be treated to more such madness, the type of which i have just seen. adam, what do you expect you'll be listing harewood for? provided i get a bid on patterson, i'll be interested in signing him up.

next week should see sweeney pop to remarkable bowling. his stamina is 1-2 weeks from popping now, so this could well spell the end of sweeney's training. it'll be emotional, but hopefully he'll be able to an excellent job opening the bowling for a few seasons to come...

** I'd be listing in a couple of weeks' time, when he hits Proficent batting and Quality bowling...possibly Competent conc too, but I'm not going to wait for that.

I'd guess £4-5M for Verma, and £5-6M for Brooker...that about right?

Also, when's the best time to list players? Tuesday lunchtime? I think my record sale is something like £100k...if that!

From the combined sale, I'd be hoping to bring in an überbowler. I'm just sick of not being able to take wickets :(

Think I'm probably only going to list Baird, haven't made up my mind yet. In any case, I won't be listing either until I play NorCricket in a couple of weeks.

List players for around 5.30-6pm on the Friday, people will be following their matches if you list them at lunchtime.

Haha, honestly, how do you guys have such good players? Do most of them come from ITS, or buying, or starting off with them? I`ve got nothing.

Huge match for me this Friday, the last possible one for me to win, although extremely unlikely. Tommy Guns have 5 players over 10 000 and 1 over 20 000 and just have the one over 10 000. Our only hope is that they TIE or rest key players, although both seem unlikely. Should be an entertaining match nonetheless. Brackenhurst players to watch - Hamlin, Hindle, Read and Holmes. Would be great to have some support.
