GOOOOOO SRRRIIIIIII LAAAANNNKKAAAA!!!

Man, am I stoked that SL brought it through - was even able to get sort of a reception (from who knows where on the TV this morning) which was all audio and no visual lol! Spent 2 hours from 7am - 9am pacing in front of the TV as the Indians imploded before jumping around at the conclusion of the game! :D

Man, that felt good!

My commiserations however to India and the Indian fans. They deserved better.

I would like to say though, that despite that, I hope Bermuda do not cause an upset, as I honestly do not think India deserve to go through. So I shall be backing Bangladesh to beat them and get through to the Super 8 stage. There is something so satisfying about seeing the 'giant of the subcontinent' crash out at the hands of the 2 smaller nations.

Come on Sri Lanka!
Come on Bangladesh!

:D

Well done to the Sri Lankans. Happy for my Bangladeshi brothers, congrats guys, have fun :). Us Indian fans will probably recover soon as always, let's hope we do well in England and Australia.

Also, we must realize these guys who we almost literally worship are just humans after all. Errors happen, we've been playing bad cricket throughout this tournament, but it's okay it's all part of the game. Let's not blame players here, cause as much as it hurt us, it hurts them too. They are humans, not Gods, they are prone to errors. Cricket is a sport, you win some you lose some, it's all part of the game and that is the beauty of it.

So guys as disappointed as I am today, and tbh I almost cried today and I am sure so did 1 billion others, we must look into the future. Let's see how we can improve Indian cricket.

So what India is out of the 2007 WC, let's be optimistic for the future :). Let's move on with our lives.

And may the best team win!

EDIT: Watch guys, just watch 2011 is ours, it's ours baby :p.

Yeah of course. I would term it hopefuls though. I do not believe much in young and old as long as they perform or convince some cricket gauger that he will perform (like say Atapattu).
well that is true, but at some point you do need to start building for the future, right? and how many oldies do we have who can come in and perform like what ganguly has done? as it is, this team was called the dad's army because of the abundance of 30+ and close to 30 players in the team....another reason to bring in youngsters would be to improve fitness and also one of our weakest areas, fielding and catching....

There is Ganguly, Tendulkar, in youngster there is Yuvraj. Which is why I said it doesn't have to be resolved immediately. It can wait 1-2 series where we try out options regarding the squad and then go for the long term plan with a captain. Alternatively, we can select a captain immediately who may not be performing right now or in both teams yet but it will not be a popular choice.

I have mentioned in a post some where why I think Tendulkar would be a very good captain. He has one of the best cricket brains I have seen, players regard him highly. In his earlier tenure, he over taxed players, expected too much out of them and did not get the support of the board at times lik ewhen the board sent for Noel David. He got the support of the board too on occasions but I believe the captain should get more support. I think that given his past experience (bad experience can also be a great stepping stone) and his brain, plus Mumbai guys at the helm in the BCCI, Tendulkar coming back to captain would be a good choice and is also not some thing which can be ruled out. (Also given he accepted vice captaincy which he has refused for the past 2 years or so.)
well agreed about his cricketing brain, and if the lessons have been learned and if he gets the right teams and the right selectorial support and is able to motivate his men and is able to lead from the front, he might just turn around that poor captaincy record...i am a huge tendulkar fan and would love to see him succeed, however as you can see, there are a lot of "ifs" in that approach....and given what has happened in the past and given the fact that you hardly ever get ideal scenarios, it's a big gamble at best....

you mean you, don't you?:p

and the eternal and the most thick-skinned of all optimists strikes again....
Haha nah I am talking about the majority tbh, when I said "we".

Also, yea I will stay optimistic throughout my whole life. In fact I still think we'll recover well from here and win in England and tie in Australia... Man I am gonna' get told off for this, but I swear to God I really believe these guys can do it.

But for sure 2011 is ours.

I cannot believe the two biggest Asian nations are out of the world cup already, the WC was structured like it is to make it so this didn't happen.
Fortunately the smaller sides didn't read the scripts and played well when it mattered, thus deservedly going through and adding an extra dimension to the Tournament that pretty much nobody would've predicted.

India don't have a chance of winning a World Cup again until they sort out their administration.

Not really. India don't have a chance of ever being consistently good unless the administration (and work ethic, and professionalism) improves. But World Cups can be won by just being hot at the right time. India were in the finals four years ago, and then it only takes one game.

Being consistently excellent - especially in Tests? That's another story.

I agree with marc. My commiserations to India but they really made a bit of a meal of chasing that target - mind you, Sri Lanka played brilliantly.

its a sad picture when you look at the picture of dravid at the end/near the end of the game...but hey its ok thats sports...but im pretty sure the organizers for the next world cup wont be using this format (which will be pretty due money making selfishness) but good game sri lanka, i thought india was going to win by their bowling in the beginning... is anyone optimistic about bermuda beating bangladesh? im all for it because i like watching the minnows win...

9 down and India are going home. sad
I was too despite feeling happy for SL .

IMO this World Cup is meaningless without India.

As a Sri Lankan, I hope Bermuda will knock Bang out, because I feel India unfortunately have had 2 bad days at the wrong time.

Very Sad for India...:-O

thats unfair...how is it meaningless? just because of the money factor? and the one billion people? thats letting money get the better of you...thats the thing of one-day cricket and most other sports...its what happens on that day...but dont mind another upset...but wanting it because of a different reason-greed isn't a good thing.
