Is that why Kaneria averages 45.14 in Tests against England? That includes an average of 40podd in Tests against England in Pakistan.

Those hopeless English batsmen, ey?
I was specicifally talking about English county players and not the England team.

Shoaib Malik couldn't be more of a class ODI batsman if he tried, IMO.
surely that can be applied to pretty much any person who has played international cricket!!!

In fact, it could be applied to me..I certainly couldnt be more of a class batsman if I tried!!!! My failing really..hehehe

Yes, and in recent times, how often have these Test players played in County Cricket, 1 or 2 games a year tops.

No, but the majority can't IMO.How often do English county players excluding International players come up against wrist spin in domestic cricket. You've got Rashid,Lawson and Schofield.Hardly plenty is it.

Just because you don't come-up against it often in matches doesn't mean you automatically can't play it. There are such things as bowling-machines these days, y'know.

But they are originally taken from county cricket though - it's the system that develops them. If it only develops players that are useless against leg spin bowling, then why are the test players so adept at playing Kaneria?

You could say that about the 2005 season. And look what he did after that...
First off, the Ashes was during the 2005 season. And secondly he didn't dominate England either. He took a lot of wickets, but no other bowler was taking wickets, so there were a lot of wickets to take. He undoubtedly bowled superbly, but England went large periods of their innings without losing wickets to Warne. It was pretty obvious that they played him well.

Besides, weren't you the one who just said that you weren't talking about internationals?

There are bowling machines but if you are not regularly facing leg spin bowling in a match sitiation it's going to be pretty difficult to do really well against them IMO.

Yeah England used Merlin before the 2005 Ashes. And look how many wickets Warne took in that series...8-)
Merlyn, actually - and just because Warne took wickets doesn't mean it wasn't worthwhile. Bowling as well as Warne did he was always going to take wickets, and the mistakes that were made against him were very common in theme - ie, they were too aggressive.

Not neccessarily. The Warnes and Muralis of this World maybe, but not the Kanerias, Mushtaqs, MacGills, etc.

Warne takes 40 wickets in a 5 match series and the England batsmen played him "pretty well"...8-).Yes there were alot of wickets to take but saying England batsmen played him "pretty well" is pure stupidity IMO.

To go with your sweeping statements.

Where does that sound familiar, now...

It might have been "worthwhile" but TBH it didn't lessen Warne's impact. There's a huge difference with facing a bowling machine and playing in a match situation agianst Warne himself.Warne's success has alot to do with continous chirping of keeper+slips and the bowling machine can't replocate that.
