Fantastic catch from Flintoff! Great stuff.

Exactly what England had to do with the new ball. This should be a cracking chase now.

How'd you know? How often did Larsen bowl in front of a speedgun?

Exactly, Greatbatch never bowled. Nor did Fairbrother.

Dibbly-dobbly for me is a term that describes a net-bowler. Not a proper class-act like Larsen (or Harris).
How do I know? ummm, by watching him on the telly and live about a million times. "Dibbly-dobblers" was a genuine term used frequently at the time to describe our bowlers around that era and is still commonly used today in NZ to describe bowlers of similar ilk.

I'm affraid to say, Richard, that Fiery is right. Gavin Larsen and Chris Harris are the kings of Dibbly-Dobbly-ness

But you can't tell the pace of a bowler by watching him, you need a speedgun.

Bowlers often turn-out to be a different speed to what you'd thought when they get timed.

Aaaaaaand, Fleming is perilously close to being lbw.

*sigh*..just take my word for it please Richard. Larsen was a snail-pace seamer, he hopped and skipped into the crease like he was doing a waltz and delivered the ball at a speed at which the keeper wasn't really necessary...he could do that job himself. The only slower non-spin bowler I know of who played for NZ was Jeremy Coney, who described his own bowling as "autumn leaves"

People said Shaun Pollock was as quick as Allan Donald, too - then they found he was nearly 10mph slower...
