Agree with Dale, there's better players than O'Connel right now.

Out of interest, does anyone know what's happening with Joe Rokococo right now?

I've lost touch with NZ rugby and the last thing i remember he was on the bench with his half cousin Sivivatau starting.

I know Sivivatau is another speed machine, but why was Rokococo dropped? His record is nothing short of scary.

Even if he was playing badly i'd still think he would be worth his place in the starting line up.

Rokocoko was one of the 22 ABs who had a "conditioning period", sitting out the first half of the Super 14. He's by no means dropped. We just have an embarrassment of riches on the wing, and they tend to get rotated.

hehehe, oh Simmy
Carter smarter

Wilkinson is definitely the best 10 we have and to entertain the fact that Geragthy or Flood would play ahead of him if he is fit is ridiculous.

Atm, Carther > Wilkinson BUT Wilkinson of 2003 > Carter 2007.

For this reason I don't think you can call him overrated for the reason that he could easily surpass his past form.

Wilkinson 2003 V Carter now wouldn't be that far out tbh if you're considering all round number 10 abilities.

Wilkinson - an excellent goalkicker, excellent tackler, and...umm...
Carter - a very good goalkicker (not quite at Wilko's standard), a very good-to-excellent tackler, a very good ball from hand kicker, a very good passer, can take the line on. A much more complete player, but prone to the very occasional lapse (in SA in 05 and 06).

If Carter sets the WC alight like Wilkinson did in 2003 then I will have Carter as my avatar for 4 years.

Well I don't watch much Rugby, but I enjoyed it yesterday. Who is everyone's money on for the championship now?

France will surely still win with their big point difference.
They'll probably win but their big points difference is only slightly bigger than Ireland's. France have the advantage of playing after Ireland (so they'll know how many they need to win by, unless afterwards England hammer Wales by a massive margin) and also arguably have an easier game to win by a decent margin - home to Scotland over Ireland's game in Italy.

Definitely easier.

Italy are now ranked 8th, ahead of Wales and Scotland.

??

We must have watched a different World Cup then.
I guess so. Campese set the World Cup alight in 1991. Lomu in 1995. England scraped their way to victory thanks to Martin Johnson and their forward pack. Hell, Martin Johnson was the reason they won the Final.

Anyway, IMO, Wilkinson is a better first five than Carter from set play, while Carter is brilliant in broken play.

Matt Dawson was the reason England won the final tbh.
