Can't see anyone else apart from the obvious onez in Boucher and Gilly. Sangakarra can quite possibly have a good series too.

I'd have Sangakkara out of all of the keepers in world cricket at the moment, followed by Gilchrist, and then Boucher.

McCullum has been in reasonable batting form coming into this but my list is:

1. Sangakkara
2. Boucher
3. Dhoni
4. McCullum
5. Gilchrist (out of form and not looking great)

Even so, McCullum > Gilchrist probably won't happen for another 10 years at best...
Just for the tournament. I agree it would take some doing to be a better over-all player than Gilchrist. Gilchrist seems to have not scored many decent scores for a couple of years and is getting out quicker. McCullum will benefit from the dire situations the opening batsman put NZ in :)

A certain 57 ball test century less than 3 months ago is still fairly fresh in my memory. I know it wasn't in an ODI but he's still (arguably) the most dangerous batsman in world cricket.

In THIS world cup, i believe Sangakkara will be the best/most effective keeper batsman. Gilly has been in suspect batting form for some time now and even though he's done so much for the keeper batsman role, his powers are beginning to wane.

Gilly's 57 ball ton in the Perth test was at par with the fastest century in odi cricket because basically because all the fielders were at the boundary rope trying to save 6's and 4's but Gilly kept hitting them into the stands.

It would be interesting to see which keeper does the best in the WC.If a Keeper keeps and bat extraordinary in the cup, then i won't be surprised to see his team being eventually crowned as the champion, a WK plays a very important role in OD cricket.

For Aus to retain the cup its important that Gilly does the job well, India considers Dhoni as one of the best OD player in the team, While Sang is such a good player that he can help Sl reach the knock out stage of the cup with his individual brilliant performance.

if you go by career it would obviously be gilly but on form over the last year it has to be kumar sangakarra...great batsmen in great touch.

I wouldn't go that far, its still 20 balls shy of the ODI record, and the fielders weren't on the ropes from the start

He's unquestionably still the most dangerous, but it's no good really being dangerous if you're going to get 5 single-figure scores in between each more-than-run-a-ball big-'un.

I think what he was saying is that the fielders were out pretty instantly whereas the rules in the Afridi game prevented such a thing.

Dunno about "unquestionably still the most dangerous". I think it's something that could be debated. Jayasuriya might have a case.
Having said that, any side playing Aus know that one of the keys to success is getting Gilchrist out early.
The question being asked in this thread is a very good one actually. The 5 keepers we're talking about are all top-drawer players and not much separates them really
