I blame the BCCI and, by extension, all people of Indian heritage. It's the sensible and mature thing.

"Damaged in India" is a really dodgy headline since the damage was discovered when the trophy was handed over by the ICC to the sponsors(LG) in India. As the trophy was in the possession of the ICC when the damage took place should it not be ICC's fault??

While its technically true that the damage happened in India, the headline is a bit misleading as it makes people believe that the BCCI/Indians who damaged it while the trophy has never been in their possession, it was in the possession of the sponsors.

TBH, I sort of see both the Gelman and 16toS arguments. It's so utterly ludicrous that this is a story (as demonstrated by my earlier comment) but IMO a trophy is that bit more *special* if it's valuable than if it's not...

Strange, really. :wacko::unsure:

I'm sure I$C$C could have put that money to better use, mind...

$80,000 is huge money and yeah spending that much amount of money on a cup is not a wise idea, but its just not any other cup its the WC its got huge emotional value attached to it so spending that sort of money in every 4 years is no big deal for the ICC.
