*Official* English Football Season 2006-07

Was dissapointing seeing Everton having the draw on the wknd. Also worse to see Cahill injured.
Don't be too downhearted. Sheffield United haven't lost at home since Christmas and playing away at the smaller clubs is normally difficult. That said, not the best performance of the past year.

Another trademark Gerrard moment, Barca lose it just outside their own box, Liverpool outnumber Barca players on the attack, it's passed to Gerrard who's got acres right in the centre of the pitch 25 yards out could pass it, could go past the defender, could just hit it. He does his usual bag of cement first touch and gets a lucky free kick. Rubbish
Cheer up, FFS. Two English teams have just beaten the two previous non-English winners of the Champions League to reach the quarter-finals. You must be at least a little bit happy with that.

Same old same old Inter return :@

At least the Scudetto should be heading to the blue half of Milan. Stupid away goals.

At least Barca is out. Chelsea to win now.

Hopefully Inter get some serious punishment for the brawl which Italian football has mysteriously gotten away with of late.

Why hopefully?

I know Andy Gray concurs with such a thought regarding Inter's future expulsion but then the tirade and his comment regarding if it was an English club. Simply led me to believe his Scaly in disguise. :)

Valencia created the needle and instigated the mass brawl at the Mestalla, David Navarro is not an Inter player and his forearm smash on Nicolas Burdisso is the incident which saw a little bit of handbags turn into a fall scale brawl. Navarro had no right to get involved; he was bench warming all night but give him credit he showed great pace to get away from Ivan Cordoba because if he caught him, Navarro would be consuming liquids through a straw for a couple of weeks.

Inter, deservedly should get punished but I can not see why their punishment should be worse than Valencia’s. Matter of the fact is, if Navarro did not forearm smash anyone then Inter would have bemoaned their luck for a few minutes and then begrudgingly preceded off the pitch, Navarro’s piece of ‘thuggery’ changed the whole situation and for that reason, Valencia should be fully accountable. And it’s no surprise to see Navarro come out and give a full scale apologise whilst most of his team-mates have also apologised full letting themselves lose control and taking the shine of what is a great result, considering Inter were easily the better team over the two legs.

The Nerazzurri do have bad rep which they bring on themselves but Los Ches are no way the innocent party in all of this and its ridclious how people can suggest otherwise.

For anyone that did not catch it...

Anyhow, great night of Champions League football, shame about Hilton would have been great if Chelsea got done over by Porto but elsewhere goal of the night down in Rhône. And its good to see Roma progress, any team that plays so outside conventional wisdom and thinks playing no strikers but just six midfielders who alternate at different times as a forward is fantastically refreshing. Can not see them progressing any further unless they get say a PSV but a really good team to watch.

And here's the Roma goal in question.

Yeah you're right, I was somewhat pigeon-holing Inter in with the rest of Italian football tbh. My reasoning was that Spanish football has less previous.

Navarro's actions were utterly disgusting. Navarro should face criminal charges and rot in jail for a while - only a scumbag of the highest order would get into something that had little to do with him and use it as an opportunity to get in a cheap shot like that and then run off.

His actions may have been that of a wanker, but it made for comedic viewing.

Sounds like the usual CDMs style over substance fare, chances but no goals.

In other news, Vidic is mortal - he bleeds.

Seems a bit pointless to take Rooney and Ronaldo off with 8 minutes + stoppage time left. It's a bit risky when two goals knocks you out and they barely get a rest, should have kept Ronaldo on at least.

Would think Ferguson should know better than to tempt fate after what's happened before.

CDMs knocked out by one of the worst teams in the last 16. Always a possibility tho when in Europe they're built so much around the defense whilst their attack can't take what chances come their away. It was only a matter of time before they lost that crucial first goal and their European gameplan was screwed.
