The only issue I have with the batstats ratings is that it doesn't take into account how many bowlers of each type you have, so a team with more than one spinner will benefit if they have a high seam rating. Anyway, my rating should be a fair bit better next week now that I've got a full complement of seamers again.

Oh Deary deary me! It would appear as though I'm actualy pretty, spastic-pulling-a-truck, kind'a useless! When I clicked on the link, I could only get the list to go down as far as 92, and I hadn't appeared yet! If anyone could break the truth to me, I'd be curious, if not a little despondent!

Right, off for a bath with the toaster! Trev

There's a team in your league with an ampersand in their name, the Batstats thing doesn't seem to support it ('Note: Some teams (or even entire divisions) are missing due to special characters crashing the program. Sorry about that.'). Your last league match would have given you a rating of 97 though.

Edit: 99 actually.

BatStats used your cup game ratings, which included your new signing already.

Nice to see that I went from the "toughest" III league right into the toughest II :(

Also nice to see that my competitors for the II.1 title are the 1st, 2nd and 7th best sides in the division :(

Trev, I'd choose according to (a) what their temperaments are like, and (b) how they fit into your batting lineup overall. I'd trust a batsman with poor secondaries more if he was defensive.

Cheers Mahindinho, at the moment I'm running with:
1. Staveley, Cautious, (ATT), Comp Stam,
Qual/Prof Bat.
2. Patel*, Steady, (DEF), Resp Stam, Strong/Resp Bat
3. Greening, Steady, (ATT), Comp Stam, Rem/Resp Bat
4. Noon+, Steady (NORM), Resp Stam, Strong/Strong Bat
5. Qureshi, Attacking, (NORM), Woe Stam, Prof/Resp Bat
6. Cash(B4), Destructive, (DEF), Comp Stam, Resp/Sup Bat
7. Wynne-Willson, Attacking, (V.DEF) Feeb Stam, Comp/ ABS Bat

That way around gives me Strong/Comp batting, whereas if I switch Noon and Greening, I get Prof/Resp. Not much to pick out of the oppo's bowling attack, all around the high Prof/low Strong mark, two RMs, (Dest and Sty), one RFM (ATT), and one LHS (DEST).

And tar for the info Adam, I've added myself to the list - My aim is to hit three figures by the end of the season.

BTW, How do you work out the relative strength of your division? Although I can't anyway, as mine isn't represented on there!
Later, Trev

Edit by me on your post Trev because Adam changed his to say yours was 99 so 100 may be a easier target. ;)

I don't think these stats are very good IMO. I beat HUNSS, by some, and he's higher than Sriram, whose smacked me soundly on many a occasion.

You beat them against the ratings tho. I would say HUNSS is very slightly better than Sriram going on last ratings.

Where the ratings fall down is where Adam said, plus they don't weight any of the batting ratings, so lower order is more important than top order.

Fantastic, great time for BT's server to go down! I was in the middle of a bidding war on a Resp 19YO Bat, within a week or so of turning Prof, and Alan trips over the wire or something! Well worth my membership I have to say!

Much more of this and I'm going back to loading tapes into my Commodore Vic20!

Who-Hoo! It looks as though in all the confusion of the crash, my final bid was enough to secure the aforementioned player. Do people think he was value for money at £189K? I set myself a budget of £200K, but thought I'd get him for much less when he was only on £54K with five minutes until the deadline.

My plan is to slot him in at No.7 for the time being, give him one batting and one fielding net until he pops to Feeb Conc, then two batting nets. Then I'll try and flog him for around a mill as a Strong/Feeb or Strong/Med at the end of the season, putting the money towards something better.

Also, given his level of form and fitness, do you think he'd contribute any more tomorrow than my current No.7, Wynne-Willson? Feeb Stam, comp/Abs Bat, Med Field, but crucially Sup/Sup form and Sub Fitness.

Scaly, Am I right in thinking he's only a week or so on one net from Prof?

If you're training to sell short-term I wouldn't bother with a fielding net. You'll get virtually no return from it financially.

hmm, scaly, how much would it be worth financially, to be putting 2 batting nets and 2 keeping nets into a 17yo?? i purchased him for 1.12mil, so, hypothetically, if i was to sell 6 weeks later, what kind of price would be the minimum i would want in return?
