Well then you know nothing about spin bowling. It is a zillion times harder to spin a new ball compared to an old one
A gross exaggeration.

It's harder, yes, but you still see quality spinners turning a new or newish ball plenty often enough.
which is why you don't see Kumble, Murali, Warney, etc. opening the bowling in front of far crappier pacers.
All have done so several times.
It is also zillion times harder to loop a ball that isnt worn out.
Obviously, and I acknowledged such a thing.
Such pitches are extremely rare.
Only because you get the "that pitch was no way close to being Test standard" nonsense from bitter opposition. If people had more courage to say "stuff you you bitter ****s" we'd probably see a few more playing to home advantage.
So what ? Yes, Garner had the plate made for him given his gigantic stature but that is a part and parcel of who he was as a bowler. Doesnt diminish his accomplishments one bit.
Where on Earth did I say it did? I said it made him a bit of a special case - most who've perfected the Yorker were famed for it being an inswinging Yorker. Garner wasn't. He was famed for it being a Yorker that came out of the sky.

but that depends, CC. Once Nehra got a 6 fer but got his last 4 wickets in his last couple of overs, (ie) after the damage had already been done. Needless to say, India lost said match and Nehra got away with a below par bowling performance.
I presume you're not referring to this?

Because that was an outstanding display of one-day bowling at it's best - of how to attack and defend in equal measure.

What's India's lineup likely tobe for the first game against Bangladesh ?

My guess would be:
Sehwag
Ganguly
Tendulkar
Yuvraj
Dravid
Dhoni
Pathan
Harbhajan
AA
KUmble
Munaf

I'd prefer Pathan batting three to Tendulkar...

Of that line-up I'd probably go Dravid up at three, Tendulkar and Yuvraj down one.

This is what I think the India WC X1 will be

Sourav Ganguly
Virender Sehwag
Rahul Dravid
Sachin Tendulkar
Yuvraj Singh
MS Dhoni
Dinesh Karthik
Harbhajan Singh
Agit Agarkar
Zaheer Khan
Munaf Patel

Karthik = not a one-day batsman.

Better to have an all-rounder in there, be it Agarkar (and Kumble instead of Agarkar down lower) or Pathan.

I seriously doubt Dravid will bat at three.

From what Greg Chappel has intimated India will look to Dravid to be sandwiched in between Yuvraj and Dhoni....

Shame, really.

Because I can't see anyone else well-qualified to bat three. Don't like Pathan there, really, but certainly not Tendulkar!

So unless they're planning on a top-three of Ganguly, Uthappa, Sehwag or Ganguly, Sehwag, Uthappa...

Pathan's bowling is a real concern. However his batting is ideal for a 7.He's turned himself into a very capable batsmen with an average of close to 28.

Can't really see Uthappa bat anywhere other than opener tbh and I get the feeling India will leave him on the bench at least for the Bangadesh game to see what kind of nick Sehwag is in.

No.3 is the troublesome one and it'll be interesting to see who starts there.
Will also be interesting to see if Kumble is in the starting X1 or whether they'll go Harby, Zaheer, MUnaf, AA.

With this lineup:

Sehwag
Ganguly
Tendulkar
Yuvraj
Dravid
Dhoni
Pathan
Harbhajan
AA
KUmble
Munaf

The tail's like 4 players.

I'd go with:

Uthappa
Ganguly
Sehwag
Tendulkar
Yuvraj
Dravid
Dhoni
Pathan
Harbhajan
Agarkar
Munaf

No harm having Pathan as a front-line bowler against Bangladesh.

Kumble needs to be left on the bench as much as possible. I think Kumble and Harbhajan are both past their best, and India should even play Sehwag, Tendulkar, and Yuvraj as middle-order damage-limiters and give a go to Khan, Munaf and Sreesanth/Agarkar as the 3 main seamers with Pathan as the 4th.

I want you to give me some logical cricketing reasons why Tendulkar at 4 is a bad idea.

It's not, Tendulkar at four is the best India can do and I've been saying that since 2002!

It's three that I don't want him at, because he's batted there what, 15 times, and never scored a run!

EDIT: Hakon's already said some of my piece...

Surely there are better options as a specialist batsman than Pathan though, and his bowling at the moment doesn't suggest he should be selected as anything but..
