**Official** Chappell-Hadlee Series

Just back from the game. Wow!

Taylor played very well, although he had a bit of luck. Hussey's century was simply awesome, but, yeah, it's all for nothing.

MacMillan. I hate to say it... He won us that game. Awesome stuff.

Great chase by NZ today. Taylor and Fulton were sensational, and McMillan more or less won the game when it was in the balance. If he'd been caught early on it might not have gone the same way, and the guy deserves a lot of credit. Must be hard as a NZ fan to see performances like that from him and then utter crap for ages. Hogg obviously bowled pretty poorly, though you couldn't have expected him to keep it tight on that ground in the late overs, and generally the fielding was lacking and the bowling wasn't particularly good aside from McGrath and Watson at times, and Bracken with the new ball.

I'm sure others have mentiioned it already, but Hussey's captaincy left a bit to be desired again today. Holding Hogg back as long as he did was a curious call, and probably made a big difference in the end. The drop by Jaques was crucial though, and obviously you can't blame Hussey for that.

Hussey getting all the blame? What I noticed was that he never had any senior players around him offering suggestions, etc. Seemed as though everything was put on his shoulders.

Where were Hayden, McGrath and even Hogg when the going got tough?

Minds on the beach which is where players from both sides should be at this stage of the season

Perfectly paced chase by New Zealand in that they went at the right time. So often i've seen us wait for the last 5 to score 12 an over in that situation, but they did the right thing by going from the 38th over.

Couldn't believe Hussey left the field back with 24 needed off 24 balls.

Lol at pasag's efforts this morning.

Brilliant stuff from NZ. Hopefully pushed Aussie odds out a little, I'm going to slap a tenner on Australia first chance I get for the WC. :)

Yeah, I'm the same. Australia will probably still be favourites, but it'd be nice if they dropped a bit.

Feel sorry for Hussey, but his captaincy was terrible. Cam White is quite possibly the worst Australian ODI bowler I have ever seen. He is absolutely dreadful.

Hussey also missed a trick by holding Hogg's last 2 overs back til late as others have said. It is a shame that he is such a poor captain as he obviously has a good cricket brain and is probably my favourite non NZ player...

Awesome to see Australia struggling as much as they are, although I doubt it will last. They may lose a couple of games in the WC as their bowling looks pretty weak, but with Lee back I think they will still win the tournament.

Gah.... Dire bowling effort... Great effort from NZ though, earned the victory.

Well batted from Taylor, Fulton & co. though. Taylor is going to score a ****load more runs in ODI cricket in the years to come, was a star again today.

Hodge continues to show us what he's made of now that he's been given an extended run in the side, he & Hussey were brilliant with the bat. Watson showed some improvement with the ball, & picked up 3 key wickets. Just need him to get some batting time in the 3rd match. If he's got some sort of confidence going into the WC, he will be a key player.

Tait showed us the ugly side of his unpredictability today, lets hope he can turn that around next match. White continued to show us why he shouldn't bowl, was the turning point of the game imo, & whilst Hussey is still gunning it with the bat, he's helping prove the "any monkey can captain australia" theory wrong with another horrible performance as captain.

For the next match i'd bring Johnson in for either Bracken or McGrath, & give Voges a place ahead of Hayden, White or Jaques. I'd like to see Jaques get another shot as he is definetly a class batsmen, but would definetly benifit from having 3/4 few games in a row, not just 1 or 2 here and there.

What other time would you have scheduled this series though? There wasn't really an open spot for both teams these summer other than now.
Ive said befor that the matches have to be played because of a pre-existing agreement but Lee, Oram etc wont be thanking their respective boards right now

It'll never happen but I wish they'd think of players well-fare before their own back pockets

Got to see the lst 9 overs today for various innings and wow what a chase.

At the risk of being slated, and I know he was the leading wicket taker in the CB Series, but just watching McGrath bowl And (it was in Wellington as well), does it seem as though he isn't bowling as well as he has in the past, it is as though he has lost a bit some of his edge, I mean would we have ever seen that Bouncer that McCullum was able to hook him for six? Because if that wasn't frustration, then what was it?

Looking at the stats you would probably call me an idiot, but this is just what going off when I watch him bowl, and it would be fair to say he has bowled better.
