The pitches must have definitely improved this year. Hundreds are becoming much more commonplace - and in this round three batsman who haven't set the city alight this year all made three-figures.

In other news, Bangladesh A will tour Sri Lanka next month, to play two 'Tests' and three one-day fixtures. Hopefully the selectors will use the visit of England A and this tour to identify the new blood that will surely get a chance after the World Cup, particularly the seamers after their disaster in Zimbabwe.

After the departure of Dhiman (26), Chittagong again collapsed to become 105 for nine before Ehsanul and Kamrul played four overs to add only one run to deny Rajshahi's certain victory.

Bit of a lonely effort from Dhiman Ghosh, it seems.

Poor pitches all round again, too?
Poor quality cricket more like. The national team players are away at the World Cup, the 'A' team players don't seem to be about in force and the Academy players are playing England A. There must have been lots of players making their debuts, although that happened last year following the DPL.

Thanks for keeping this up Miraz, I'll be able to lend a hand in a few days time.

NCL Round Seven, 20-23 February

Rajshahi v Sylhet
Khaled Mashud returns to the Rajshahi ranks, as should Junaid Siddique and Mohammad Shahzada following the Academy match. Jahurul Islam is unavailable however, as he will play for Bangladesh A against England A, as will Sylhet's Enamul Haque jnr and Nazmul Hossain.

Dhaka v Chittagong
Dhaka are without Marshall Ayub, Mosharraf Hossain, Nadif Chowdhur and Mohammad Sharif, although Mahmudullah returns. Chittagong should be at full strength, less the likes of Aftab Ahmed and Tamim Iqbal, who are away with the national side at the World Cup.

Khulna v Barisal
Of the non-internationals, only Tushar Imran and Saghir Hossain should be absent for Khulna. Barisal are missing key number three batsman Nasiruddin Faruque.

Among all the mediocre players and patched-up sides, that Dhaka top order of Uttam, Anwar Hossain and Al Sahariar stands out immediately. Mohammad Mahmood, an opening bowler, makes his debut for Khulna and Imtiaz Hossain stands alone against a Junaid-less Rajshahi.
