Reorganisation of the batting order ended in disaster for CW XI in the dress rehearsal for the one-day final, and they may leave the Top End Series without silverware despite a lot of positive performances. Only Stedman held firm with the bat today, with Hopes, Tait, Gillespie and Cullen all firing for the bowling side, and in spite of an inspired spell by Rose the visitors were beaten by six wickets.
CW never got going; Das, Luff, Chaulk and Garven all struggled against the pace, and they were 40 for four at one point. Stedman rebuilt somewhat, grinding out 47 in unusual fashion, but once he hoiked Cullen to Katich there was little reprieve.

Disappointing to get out after a start, and obviously to lose. I think we suffered a bit from a lack of time in the middle for a few of the guys, so hopefully we'll go better next time around.

Batting Cricket Web out of the match is not possible, as Stedman and Chaulk showed with another huge 175-partnership when the order of the day was to secure victory. Gundry also took four for 39, bogging down North and Haddin to the extent that Australia A never really got going in a drab final to a long contest.
Australia A posted 217 for eight, with Cunningham getting two men bowled in an excellent performance with the new ball. Rose was more erratic, recovering only with a couple of death over slogs, while the wides count racked up to 13 as the only genuinely disappointing thing about the bowling effort.
In reply, Stedman and Chaulk set their sight on 218 - and nothing more. Tait was seen off easily, the bouncers whizzing away to Haddin for dot-balls as he took one for 29. None of the other bowlers got enough movement, while Stedman and Chaulk dabbed the runs to ensure a comfortable total of 175 by the time Chaulk finally hoiked to Hopes. Luff then gritted out 27, and the match was won in the final over. All in all, the one-day tournament showed that CW have two great batting talents, as well as a third spinner pushing claims and a couple of promising seamers.

Another stunning opening stand, and a great win. Was a good group bowling effort today, as well. Really shows how strong we are in the one day format that we can come here and win a series like this one.
Personally I can't really complain too much about my performances, just didn't get that many chances with the bat due to the productive top order, with just one full length innings in the series. Kept it reasonably tight with the ball.
Great series for Gundry and Rose, as well as Stedman and Chaulk. Dominated virtually every match.
