haha, nicely downplay his batting feats in this series there Prince. Admittedly his bowling hasn't been great.
Where did I downplay them? As I've said, it was patently obvious he could play destructive innings in ODIs, just not very often and not very consistently. One series in which he made three scores should hardly be enough to charge my opinion - given my criticism was based on consistency - should it?

Before this series, I'm sure everyone would be saying the exact opposite. His ability as a "biffer" has only really come out in this series - before then, he had the rep as a mentally strong player capable of seeing out pressure situations and getting England out of trouble. His quick scoring down the order has surprised me quite a bit actually, even though I rate the guy.
I'd have sent in Dalrymple instead of Flintoff to be honest. I know it isn't the done thing to promote above recognised batsmen but I'd rather Flintoff came in for the last ten overs.

Don't know why but I feel more confident with Plunkett at 9, I'm not sure why but he can at least wield the willow.

2005 vintage Flintoff would have put that Hogg full-toss for four. In fact must players would of.

Was just going to say that Australia has a fairly good chance of winning the game even though England look comfortable but they really aren't as 1 or 2 quick wickets and Australia will be a lot of trouble. Then I got dc and the 4th wicket fell.

I have 2 questions:
1) How the hell have England managed to change from being the worst side ever to tour the antipodies to being in a position to beat Australia in the finals of this series? What do you put it down to?
2) Why does Brett Lee have to carry on like a pork-chop when he gets a wicket? (Aside from the fact he's a knob)

He doesn't need another reason. :p

Gee you're a hard taskmaster Prince. He's never shown the capacity to big the ball all over the park for extended periods like he has in this series. Why can't you just say "yeah, wow, I didn't see that coming, didn't realise he could do that?"

I'm impressed by Australia's imitation of NZ with that stuffed up run-out. They haven't quite managed it but it was a good effort.

Yes, yes he has actually. Never for that many runs, although that didn't surprise me. What would surprise me, was if he did it for the next two series running as well!

(And the same goes for his bowling too - which I'm sure will return to at least somewhere nearer to his former glory when he has more match-practice.)

Would have been a stunner there from Johnson.

England should definitely win from here. Flintoff is the key wicket though, and Hogg looks to be all over him.
