Yegods. No wonder Scaly & I hit miserable old bugger mode whenever England bat in these games. If Cricinfo are to be believed, Joyce & Strausss just gifted their wickets when anyone with an ounce of brainpower could have worked out that they just had to play straight for a few overs. Thanks fellas. Of course, Strauss batting like a prize thicky isn't exactly a rare occurence on this tour, but you'd kinda hoped that he'd worked it out by now. game over, presumably. Cue more moans from Buchanan?
Joyce didnt quite read the pace of the ball, was early on the shot and ended up spooning it to mid on. It looked like a soft dismissal but it wasnt really.
As far as Loye is concerned, honestly does anybody actually think thats hes international class? Other than that audacious sweep shot hes by and large looked hopeless all series both technically and mentally and is more Alistair Brown than anyone else could be. His dismissal in this inning was equally ludicrous even if it wasnt out.
Strauss is and always has been rubbish. Im sick and tired of having to listen to Hussain talk about how he is a proven player and how his experience of being hopeless for all of his career came in handy on his way to a humongous 50 against NZ last game.

Good call Craig. 8-)

But "don't expect them to win" and "can't win" are two different things. Mind you, I'm shifting pretty quickly towards the "can't win" camp as we speak.
What the hell does the rollyeyes icon supposed to imply?

So what I got that bit wrong, not as though I'm the only one and a lot of people have got a lot worse (ie when South Africa chased down 434 last year) and where were you then?

One of my ex-girlfriends ended up going out with Ali Brown so I love hearing that sort of thing

I doubt whether the selectors really did. More of a token gesture that they could make given the number of absences. Fair point about Joyce.

Hey Fiery - sorry about before mate. Was a total overreaction on my part. Looking back, I'm not sure why I went off - thanks for having the class to defuse the situation before.

That was dire by McGrath!

Usually this summer that would have been England that dropped that catch, and usually an Aussie player would catch that.

Perhaps England's luck is changing ever so slightly perhaps?

Settle down, mate. Sorry for the abruptness, but the rolleyes was probably brought about by me being a little bit impatient with your occasional habit of responding to my posts without actually reading them properly.

good over...1 from it

u feel through Watsons other 9 overs he'll get tested tho.. if the other bowlers bowl tight..which seems likely

Watson's bowling form over the last year or so has been great though. He averages about 19 with the ball in ODIs since the Ashes of '05.

He looks well below full pace though so I'm not convinced of his fitness.

Hard to think they could be a worse opener than Michael Vaughan but Mal Loye isn’t even Matt Prior standard.

Also Andrew Strauss has to be the man that KP replaces. Take away Bangladesh and the guy doesn't even average 30. And there maybe question marks regarding a number of Englands batsman but at least Collingwood can field, Bell makes starts and Ed Joyce looks like he has some aptitude for this format, Strauss brings absolutely nothing to the cause.
