I think watson needs to play in the finals as i think white is really not doing anything to help give the team any balance. If watson and hogg are going to the world cup which i think they are, then they should play in as many games they could before the world cup. What do you guys think tait might play in the finals or not? I think he should play on friday.

He does it after every game though. He mentions the worst part of the Australian performance for the game just gone, and then suggests bringing in Hogg, regardless of what the problem was.

If Clarke and White took 5 wickets each, he would have said "The pitch took turn so they should have picked Hogg." If they got hammered, he would have said "The part-time spinners aren't working so they should have picked Hogg." If Australia batted poorly and White got out cheaply, he would have said "White isn't reliable with the bat if Australia lose early wickets so they should have picked Hogg." Or even if Australia just got rolled despite White scoring runs, he would have said "The tail is too long starting at 8, so they should have picked Hogg."

I think the calls for Hogg to come in are calling louder due to Australia's lack of wicket taking ability and control in the last 3 games by their fast bowlers.I still don't think they've got their 4 best seamers for the WC.Their appears to be a huge problem with the 5th bowler and this is why Hogg should be in the team IMO for the WC.With Australia's bowling problems recently I think this will be their attack for the opening WC game

It's obvious that the balance would change with Watson batting in the top 7, which would mean Hogg playing. Watson isn't back in the side yet though, so Hogg isn't playing. Complementary players.

I was talking about the need for serious improvement in aussie death bowling and tait could have a say in that. I think Tait went a long way towards the World Cup today. I think Ponting will tell him to not even worry about swinging the ball. If he can bowl as fast, as full and as straight as he did today, he'll be a massive weapon. It wasn't just his figures, but the way he bowled. I think it now may fall to Clark to produce something special to dislodge a slightly fading Johnson for the fifth quick spot for the World Cup.

Agree with that.IMO opinion Clark will not go to the WC as that would mean having Bracken,McGrath and Clark,three similar bowlers and Tait offers something completely different and he might force his way into the X1 due to his sheer pace and potential wicket-taking ability.My Australian WC bowlers

Replace him with Voges, Watson or D.Hussey then. Hogg's batting record doesn't thrill me with confidence either. I have faith in White's batting though - give him until series end IMO.

Hogg will play when either Watson returns, or Michael Hussey starts bowling his seam-ups at 140km/h. Clearly the latter isn't going to happen, so Hogg is sweating on Watson's return.

The bowling at the death has been poor and bracken and McGrath who did the job at the death to perfection are also struggling at the death now. Aussies have to bring hogg to balance things up.

You offered the problem: Death bowling.

Yeah lee really losses control at the death overs, he should be bowled out by the 40 over. Clark is also useless at the death or for that matter even as the 2nd change bowler(he needs tailor made conditions for seamers to be effective).

Yeah you are right prince hogg shouldn't go the world cup since he doesn't have any matches under his belt, except one at adeliade. That way it would be pretty unfair on him to go into a tournament like the world cup and start bowling well, as the more a spinner bowls the better he gets.
