It's the way disciplinary action works in sport, or high level sport at least. If the CWBCC sees fit to punish a player for actions during and surrounding the Development League, it will have implications on the team. And the fact that these implications exist is added incentive not to repeat the error. And that's what discipline is all about.

But under ICC code, any punishment handed out at a lower level is carried on to games at a level higher.

yeah was gutted when i was removed from the CW ODI team for suspension same should go for people banned here imo.

IIRC Dave Mohammed was suspended from T&T cricket for a period but still eligible for WI selection. I could be mistaken though.

Sometimes bans are handed out for a length of time, which would cover all games played during that time - a good example would be Shane Warne's ban after his drug incident.
Sometimes bans are handed out for a certain amount of games, which would cover the next games at that level or in the league involved, according to the body that handed out the bans - I'm not sure if I can find a good example in cricket due to not really following suspensions very well, but this ban can be chosen to start at a certain time. In other words, if the CWBCC were to say that a one game ban was to be given to someone and that the ban was to take place at the start of the next season, then the player would be within his rights to play any games he likes up to that point when the ban would be implemented, or else the ban would be covering a lot more than one game.

Very happy to be selected and look forward to putting in some match winning performances to push for national honours. I would have thought Garven would have been the more appropriate choice for at least one of the leadership roles as I have experienced first hand what a great leader he is for a number of seasons, but in saying that the captains chosen will have my full support.

In one of the strangest games of one-day cricket in recent times, the Queensland Academy side managed to roundly outplay their CWLand equivalent...only to lose by seventeen runs. No one really impressed in the hit-and-giggle fixture, which was played on a slow, spinning wicket.
Sean Fuller chose to bat first, and soon regretted it; Dan Smith gave the simplest of catches into the slip cordon, having scratched around for nine in a style reminiscent of Paul Nixon. Luff soon followed, run out after a poor throw was picked up well by wicket-keeper Bragg, and Fuller and Dravid failed to get starts. Colt batsmen Das and Jasotharan couldn't carry on theirs, and only due to Clapham's solid defence did the target actually get up to 220. Simpson's off breaks emerged with credit and three big wickets, while 28 of the total came through extras.
In reply, Queensland Academy always looked ahead...but couldn't accelerate. Gundry had two men out slogging, thus ending with the best figures, while Philipson scratched around for 64 - however, he was sufficiently tied down by Fuller and Weber to actually lose the match for the hosts. Disciplined, if unpenetrative, bowling was on offer from Cricket Web, with only Gundry looking somewhat erratic.

Philipson probably MOTM, given the lack of other outstanding performances. Good economical bowling by Fuller in particular as well as the other bowlers, and decent knocks from Dasa and Jaso, although nothing spectacular.
Hoping for better as the squad gels together, though.
