Eh?

Wrong thread?

If so - forgive me for not leaping for joy at the defeating of the magnificent Kenyans and woefully understrength Indians and Sri Lankans... for the first time ever each, I might add... it had to happen sometime.

It was clearly in responce to everything Raghav has said over the last few pages. Probably should have done multi-quote.

Might have been an idea, given that in another thread (in this selfsame forum) I had been saying something along the same lines.

You to give it a rest perhaps? Many members express their disapproval of Bangladseh having test status and these games having ODI status and stats boosting. They get their opinion across and that's fine. None of them appear to be on a mission to critisise the team every time there is a mention.

I'm on no mission of the sorts.

When someone talks inflatedly of Bangladesh, however, I'll take the chance to shoot such a thing down, because otherwise it's easier to say "they looked good for 1 game there and X played well in 3 games there, so therefore you can't say they're not ODI-class and therefore everything which happened against Bangladesh must be counted the same as that against New Zealand and Sri Lanka".

What, to prove that England genuinely are capable of thrashing someone?

Or to see how they react when given the chance to take-out their frustrations?

I think it depends on Englands attitude. If they actually put in the effort and manage to shrug off the losing mentality theyve built up recently, those two games will be walkovers. But the associates are much better prepared this time around and will come out with nothing to lose.
I have the feeling Kenya may upset England. 8-)
The professional attitude these sides have got now through the many tournaments in the lead up to the wc means theyl be ready to go once it all starts. Last time round they met up with people theyd probably only met a few times before and were suddenl;y expected to take on the best with hardly any practice or team building. Thats very different now, they spend almost as much time together as a test side, working on their game day in day out.
This doesnt mean theyl have the same class as the test sides, nor should they expect to win much, but they will have the mental side of their game ready no doubt. Any complacency from the test sides could result in some upsets!:D
