***Official*** Pakistan in South Africa

just goes to show how stupidly the international schedule is packed. Teams shouldn't have to consider resting key players & risk losing a test for it just because the WC is around the corner.

ICC need to really look into that..
It's NOT the ICC. It's because teams play more games than required by the ICC. It's your board that schedules five and seven match ODI series, not the ICC.

FRAZ

International Captain
Anyone else think that the next Test might be Inzi's last? He says he still wants to go on playing, but there's been talk of him retiring after the WC. Even if he stays, I think there's a strong possibility that he would retire from Tests and just play ODI's. I hope he doesn't retire. Can't even imagine the Pakistan middle order without the big guy! :(
I am sure it is his respectable peak .Thats it for him tbh !!!!!

Good God. How good is Mahomed Asif? Watched him, for an extended period, for the first time last night. He's a quicker version of Glenn McGrath - incredibly accurate; can move it both ways; and has a smooth, languid approach to the crease. He could be anything.
Yea. He has bowled around 130, about the same as McGrath. Though I think he used to bowl around 135, and maybe with some more matches he can work back up there. He's already a real handful.

Oooh, scathing. But CW, much like life, would be boring without humour. Even Richard's making an effort. Check out his "Cricket the sport" theory.
To be fair, most of Richard's theories get laughs, because it's funny anyone actually believes in them.

At his age, McGrath was 135-140 and bowled 130 and above until very recently - plus got a lot more bounce because of height and action

Asif is around 6'4-6'5 as well, so he gets decent bounce though not quite as much as McGrath.

And maybe I am wrong but I never remember McGrath bowling 140.

its also mcgraths action which gets him more bounce
asifs action sort of gives him less bounce but alot more swing and seam movement

Mid/High 130s all his career with occasional ball at 140 - it's only been in the last couple of years that his pace has dropped a bit

""He will take the place of Andre Nel. Andre struggles in back-to-back Test matches because he is so big and he has had a slight recurrence of that bruising on the foot again."

- Mickey Arthur

I just find that statement hilarious.

I am not trying to be overdramatic, but sides going into a test match with anything less than their best XI because of close proximity to an ODI tournament makes me want to puke.

arthur just giving bull**** about why nel was dropped

nel likes to get into other batsmens heads,
while this ploy has failed against pakistan and near the end of 2nd test match when akmal hit a backfoot 4 off him down the ground you could see he was about to burst into tears

Yeah, I'm sure no one has ever hit Nel for four before.
its not about hitting him for four
its about letting your batting do the talking

akmal didnt have to start dancing around to shut him up like sreesanth which he failed to do anyway

Hmm yeah, Sreesanth never hit Nel for six ...
just hitting him for a 6 would have done the job,

but also making a fool out of yourself just tilts the thing back in nels favour,
i bet all the SA players were laughing their heads off inside

Hmm yeah, I am sure Sreesanth wasn't laughing either, especially after giving Nel a taste of his own medicine...
