Cosgrove has been batting really badly this season. He isn't even just experiencing a run of outs like Jaques - he is genuinely playing some awful shots and struggling at the crease at times.Haydos is a class act but age has caught up with him he is not his dominant self who use to intimidate bowlers he plays a lot within in his shell , i would say bring cosgrove coz he is real talent ok he has not set the world on fire this season but he is bloke who can play pace and spin with equal ease and can make tons of runs for pup as an opener i would say he does'nt have enough big shots to use the power plays he has get it right first.
Clarke may not be as big a hitter as Gilly, Cosgrove etc. but the fact that he's able to find the boundaryquite comfortably when finishing the innings whilst there are 5 guys on the rope suggests he's more than capable of finding the boundaries with the fielding restrictions in place. Add to that the fact that he gunned it as an opener when Haydos was dropped/injured in the 03/04 (can't remember the exact year) VB series.Haydos is a class act but age has caught up with him he is not his dominant self who use to intimidate bowlers he plays a lot within in his shell , i would say bring cosgrove coz he is real talent ok he has not set the world on fire this season but he is bloke who can play pace and spin with equal ease and can make tons of runs for pup as an opener i would say he does'nt have enough big shots to use the power plays he has get it right first.
I'd like Hogg in there as well, but if he's there with Symonds, Clarke AND White the 5th/6th bowling option will be a mess the way Ponting captains. It's great to have so many options but I think they bowl better when fewer of them bowl more overs and get the match practice. Again, Hogg might be another on the retirement train, particularly considering the amount of games he's been getting. In which case Symonds, Clarke and White are your spinner as I can't see a like for like replacement for Hogg in the domestic teams right now.Yeah, I'd agree with that really. I just think that, given the fact that the batting seems to be the problem, bringing in a bowler for a batsman isn't really the answer. Especially since it would involve moving the two form batsmen into different roles.
Yep, sounds good to me really. Once Watson comes back into the side though, I'd play Hogg ahead of one of the seamers. Five fasy bowlers really seems quite ridiculous when you have Brad Hogg in your ranks.
Haurtitz is bowling well for NSW, and Cullen is starting to find a little form for SA. That said, they probably wouldn't prove to be all that more effective than Symonds/Clarke & WhiteI'd like Hogg in there as well, but if he's there with Symonds, Clarke AND White the 5th/6th bowling option will be a mess the way Ponting captains. You'd have the same amount of bowling options regardless though. I'd be bringing Hogg in for one of the quicks once Watson was fit. Your side, once Watson returns, would have 5 quicks with White/Clarke/Symonds as 6th bowling options..I'd like Hogg in there as well, but if he's there with Symonds, Clarke AND White the 5th/6th bowling option will be a mess the way Ponting captains. He handled the new ball pretty well Yesterday, and Friday where he was in during the 5 overs in both games.I mean pup was a gr8 dasher in his first 2 years but i think he does'nt play freely any more he scored both his tons while opening but now he really struggles to hit the ball long yesterday only he top edged a pull shot and got out eventually trying to hit a big sweep and against a swinging new white ball i doubt his technique too he nicks to the keeper or slips a lot of times
I'm younger still - why don't we pick me then?Hey guys we keep on taking about haddin all the time but don't you think ronchi can another gilly from WA. As for cosgrove its better to groom someone young like him rather going for 29yr old jacques.
For the record, Jaques isn't 29, he's 27. Ronchi has nothing compared to Haddin. Haddin is the better Keeper & the better batsmen.Hey guys we keep on taking about haddin all the time but don't you think ronchi can another gilly from WA. I'd pick Chris Simpson before Dan Cullen. I like Hauritz but I think he's still out of favour for whatever stupid reason.Nathan Hauritz has been bowling well for NSW in the OD comp, and Dan Cullen is starting to find a little form for SA
Clarke batted #3 for one simple reason - Ponting had to go to the toilet.I really think we should be ready for some shocks in the game against ENG coz yesterday pup came at no.3 a spot that punter never gives to anyone i think they wanted to see what pup can do against the new ball as they don't look happy with haydos so we may see pup opening in the next game and haydos could be dropped. And pup seems to be really keen for the job.
