Does Smith have anything against the 3rd man? They're defending a not so big total, sure be aggressive by all means, but letting all those runs through there is a little stupid.

Not just for this match either.

But how can you say it was politically expedient when Shoaib was also banned for saying '**** off.'
Racism is a politically charged issue and asia controls the ICC - it doesnt matter a jot whether Gibbs correctly referred to a group of Pakistanis acting like d-heads as such, it was easier to imply via their decision that he was referring to the entire x00 million population of Pakistan than to ignore it altogether.

Shoaib's penalty, ridiculous by the way, had nothing to do with it.

But he was banned for 'offensive' comments to the crowd (not sledging), same as what Shoaib was banned for (except his was sledging). I do not think anywhere in the decision, Broad said it was racist. Its the media who implied it.

I stand corrected. Regardless, to be consistent, he would have been banned even if he didn't say racist things. Because if he isn't, then Shoaib would have a legitimate grievance on his hand.
Shoaib's ban was ridiculous

People tend to forget that when stump mikes were first introduced in Oz in the 80s during WSC, the air was blue with players calling each other "white this" and "black that" and it resulted in volumes being turned down (not because of racist overtones but because of swearing in prime-time).

Now, sensitivities have changed and bleeding hearts care more about the fact that xmillion people (who dont have tvs btw) who werent even the subject might be offended than the fact that players are being verbally and physically abused - it's a joke

I expected people to take shots against Pakistan due to the Shoaib/Asif inclusion. I even thought it legitimate that criticism was posted. However, what has transpired in this thread is disgusting. It is clear to me that some members here have developed an anger towards Pakistan cricket that is bordering on hate. Social and Scaly are leading the charge. As has been stated before by many members, we all get your beef. Whether it's Hairgate or the doping scandal, you have made your opinions perfectly clear. You are more than entitled to those opinions. However, to come here every day and bash Pakistan over and over again is trollish behavior. Why not just start a "I despise (or hate if you prefer) Pakistan cricket" thread and have an orgy in there? Stop ruining this thread by baiting people into arguments.

Younis gone. :( SA have done an awsome job of fighting back in this game.
Just a bit. If overs hadn't been lost to bad light, you'd have fancied both first innings to be completed on day 1, which can't have happened too often.

Wish bad light had been offered 5 minutes ago tbh! Would have saved us two wickets! :p

So we have Inzi and the tail coming up tomorrow. If they can add 50 odd runs to the score, I would call it a success. Or the tail could wag like the first test and perhaps add a 100 runs. Anyone for match being decided by lunch on day 3?
