End of a great career. Will forever remember his 4 off the last ball. Was only 10, but remember it like it was yesterday.

Had the honour of watching him many times live when he was at Yorkshire.

Brilliant player and Im sure would have been a success at Test level if Australia hadnt of had the resouces to be able to cast him aside so easily.

has cemented his place in one-day cricket history as one of its greatest middle order batsmen, a great pressure player and a terrific finisher! congrats on a great odi career!

Played at my club here in Canberra, had a very bad temper, hated to lose, I bowled him in the nets once (big inside edge), never looked likely again tbh:laugh:

Superb finisher. Legend of one-day cricket and arguably the greatest middle-order batsman ever in ODIs.

I hear the word 'gun' was used for the first time in the context of sports, when a young Bevan came to the crease in 1994.

Yeah in the 95-96 season. I remember it like it was yesterday as well. One of the greatest one day players. He would have got another chance as a test player as well had he been born in another country and I have little doubt he could have forged a fairly good test career as well.

One of the special breed of players who comes to the fore when the situation is most difficult. Easily the greatest middle order batsman ever in ODIs, and second only to Richards overall IMO, if that. Played so many stunning pressure innings over the years it is hard to pick a favourite, and obviously the Windies ODI with the last ball boundary was his first great knock, but the one that really stands out for me is the match in the 2003 WC against England. Not because it was necessarily his greatest innings, but just because I remember watching the entire game and feeling absolutely certain that while Bevan was in Australia were still in a good position to win, even at 8 down with more than a run a ball needed.

I'm not sure there's ever been a player who inspired such confidence from the most difficult situations.

I think he could have been a success at test level if he'd gotten another chance later in his career. His FC record in all conditions after his early test stint is phenomenal. Circumstances were always against him making a comeback, though.

Wish he was a Kiwi

Possibly the greatest ODI batsman of all time.

He was extremely unluckly to play so few tests. He could have jumped ship to NZ and played ten years of test cricket as well. We'd have been glad for his services. Damn, we could do with him now!
