Haha, I can't believe Brad Hodge. He is an absolute shocker.

From Baggygreen.com.au:

"Brad Hodge's faith in the national selectors has been restored after he was chosen to replace Ricky Ponting"

Bond didn't bowl because he had a sore/stiff back.
If it's still sore in the morning he will have some scans.

Could it get any more worse? Hopefully he can get to the world cup, missing about half the games in the process.

Hopefully it is not the end of his career.....

I'm hoping beyond hope that the reverse this decision... i payed to see Ponting play... not hodge

Hopefully they give Johnson another run and don't decide to rotate him out of this game as well. I've never seen him bowl live before, and tbh am really looking foward to it. I'm expecting a big performance given it'll be (correct me if i'm wrong) his first game at the Gabba in National colours.

Fingers crossed we win the toss and bat...

Without wanting to submit to pessimism (although I am) I don't think it will matter if England win the toss bat in perfect conditions and then by some miracle it becomes horribly overcast for Australia's innings and the ball swings more than Warne.

No what England need is a time machine, either bring some greats of the past into the future or simply go back everytime a batsman gets out.

He was also reported as saying that they'd 'repaid the faith'.

He pushes his barrow harder than MacGill used to.

Is NZ likely to bring Styris and Mills back mid series as both are apparently fit? Or will they wait until afterwards and save them for the WC?

Styris is supposed to be coming for the 4th game, whoever that is against. Im not sure about mills though. Apparentely he has been bowling but not at full pace (all 130 kph of it) and he only finished 9.4 overs today and another bowler got the last wicket so he must have gone off mid over, so Im not holding my breath,

After 154 hours of cricket, I think, a win. Thank goodness for that. It was in no way convincing, but a win is a win.

1,000 posts - made it. :D

That call to give Strauss out was one of the worst LBW calls I have ever seen, Ian Botham calls it best.

"He didn't edge it onto his pad, he middled it"

What I couldn't understand as well was Fleming's field placings in the final over. Why was the field back to Lewis? Surely it should have come in to prevent the single
Tbf, if he brings the field in, Lewis could've edged it for 4.

He needed a balance between having the ring, but stopping him getting lucky and winning the game himself.

Strauss's LBW really did defy logic. Not only was it off the full face of the bat, the deflection was huge. Vettori's was pretty rotten too, missing leg by some to spare.

It's kinda sad I feel so pathetically grateful for a win of any description, but as a Pom of a certain age I'm used to getting it where I can take it.

by the way.

Who do NZ replace ??? The worst player in the last 2 games would have to have been flemming....

I imagine it would have to be franklin (Granted he bowled pretty good the last game)

But depending on the pitch... i imagine it will be patel for styris

PS how has ryder been doing this season ??

The only reason im pretty sure hes not in the team is his "Issues" (But lets be honest.. hes 22 odd ... so hes just having a good time :P )

We need an extra batsman because that is another of our problems. Styris hitting 74* or something in yesterdays OD game for Auckland and claiming a wicket should gain him selection for the next matches. IMO Oram should replace Adams over in Oz and Mills should replace Franklin. I still dont know who will gert to the final but im still backing NZ to come through.

His "having a good time" means being fat and lazy
Not necessarily an impediment to playing for NZ tho, judging by the size of McMillan's arse. He's never been svelte, but seems to have spent most of his time out of the team in the pantry.
