*Official* English Football Season 2006-07

With Becks not going to play I'm thinking a loan deal to United?Certainly would end his career at Old Trafford on a better note.
Talk of him possibly going over to LA early as their season starts in April.....also can't see that happening either though.

Yes Lennon will play in that spot & Cole on the left like he's been doing so well since late 04, whats the deal?
Except he hasn't, he cuts inside when he gets the ball (or before he gets the ball) to where all the defenders are and England lose width which makes it easy even for rubbish sides to defend against us. At international level you really need to have width and pace up front. England managed to have neither recently against Croatia and were absolutely toothless because of it - Croatia just pushed up the pitch, had too many players in too little space for England to thread passes past and that was it. Compare that to the far more inferior players Germany had in the World Cup and how dangerous they were just because they spread teams across the park and had an aerial threat and had the pace to stop teams pushing up the park.

Which German players were inferior and Cole didn't play against Croatia?

I'm not, it'll more of the usual lop-sided, clueless rubbish we've seen all this century. Trying to fit square pegs into round holes has been the bane of both the rugby union side and the football side, why do you want it to continue?
Ignore that Cole has had 2 years of being consistently the best England player then...

More injuries again to Greenarce and Shuker and the rest of the squad? However McAteer seems to have been around forever.

At least Dave's team is doing better, although to only draw in what seems a firey match (do these two teams have a nasty history?) with two Scunthorpe (there I mentioned it and I hope Neil doesn't move to ban me :p) players given red cards and a Sean Gregan own goal.

A side from that I'm glad Obafemi Martins is doing well in England goal wise, I always knew he would be successful. Wished he was still at Inter, but fair enough to sell him when you have Crespo, Ibrahiomovic, and a refound Adriano, and plus a solid goal scored in Julio Cruz (IMO I think he is under-rated).

We're just playing ***** tbh, Twice in a few weeks now we have contrived to lose 3-2 after being two up. We're down in ninth place. Seriously need wins tomorrow and Friday if we are to get anything out of this season. And it doesn't help, watching Oldham fly high

They spent the whole game trying to kick us off the park - we killed em first half but couldn't find the net - though we did have a goal dissallowed which was debatable. They got lucky with the OG then piled men behind the ball. The two sendings off were both right, there could have been at least another aswell. Dissapointing not to get the win but its not easy when the put all their 9 men behind the ball and their keeper has a stormer. Should have had a stonewall pen for a blatant handball aswell. Still they were top of the league so i guess a point at theirs(we beat them at home) is ok.

Tough games coming up though, but mostly at home - Bristol City this week, Blackpool and Tranmere to come. The way we are playing though I'm pretty confident.

Will get my last game in for a year tomorrow night when we turn Wolves over.

Pretty big rivals or just a CW thing?
There's always been a bit between the two - suppose a bit of a Gr Manchester vs Merseyside thing. But at the moment its mainly because their manager (Ronnie Moore) is our ex manager who we sacked last summer because we were playing crap football so the fans were staying away. They started well this year (which we did last year) but are having a bad patch at the moment.

GIMH can probably expand but i've heard murmurings about the quality of football, Ronnie's inability to change a game if things aren't going well and Ronnie blaming everyone but himself (which are all familiar to me from last year)

The football was great to start with, but once winter set in we started to get bogged down. We made some great signings in the summer and have a decent side, but that's all we have, there is no Plan B at all. After recent performances, you would want 2 or 3 players dropped, but, rotating the strikers aside, there is noone to bring in.

Ronnie is a Tranmere legend so won't find himself quite as reviled as he did at Oldham, but our fans are a fickle bunch, and things will need to be turned around quickly. We have two home games this week, then we play Gillingham away, live for the cameras, which we never seem to do well on, then on to Oldham, who are doing well and should be well up for it. Could be a long winter.

Not really.
Who's been better then?

Owen - crocked.
Rooney - not scoring.
Gerrard / Lampard - get in each others way.
Beckham - dropped.
Hargreaves - not played enough.
Cole A - drop in form.
Rio - falls asleep.
Robinson - Air shot.
Comrade Gary - ageing
Crouch - FTB?

Crouch - FTB?
Owen - not that good anyway IMO.
Rooney - his job is not particularly to score.
Gerrard/Lampard - agreed.
Hargreaves and Beckham - yes.
Cole - agreed.
Robinson - so a bobble is his fault then is it?
Neville - age has nothing to do with current ability.
Crouch - ****.

When the only other option is Downing, it is not at the cost of the team to play the best performing player.
