Im overseas in some blasphemous backward country that doesnt play cricket, so I have to listen to it on the radio commentary over the internet. So if anyone is good at putting highlights of this on youtube, I'd really appreciate it. Ta.

If this partnership can last until about the 30 over mark I think NZ would be right in it...that's a big ask though.

Gee...I didn't think it was quite that great
Fuller is Hilfenhaus' number 1 fan :p

One thing I have noticed is that I see a lot of overseas batsmen hit a lot of good balls to fielders, whereas an Australian batsman will usually place it for runs. Is it a different skill level between an Australian batsman to an overseas one or the different type of pitches.

That said Ross Taylor doesn't lack timing.

Well obviously it was only four overs, but it's pretty rare in my experience that a bowler comes in for their first match and bowls a brilliant spell straight up. There's almost always a few games of adjustment. Stuart Clark in tests is the only one I can think of in the last couple of years.

Taylor showed how good he could be vs. SL in the 1st ODI late last year, and he's showing it again today. Awesome viewing.

NZ commentators talked him up a lot vs. SL, and with good reason too.

Good thing Ian Smith isn't in the commentary box, he's the same for Central Districts players as Lawry is for Victorians and really does like Taylor quite a lot.

I think if he took 3 wickets then maybe you could call it a "brilliant spell". I would say it was a "good spell"

Haha, Slater referring to Styris as an "enforcer".
Haha.

Surely the man they are missing is Cairns, who is now retired. He'd be the perfect batsman to come in the middle to lower order.

I like Styris, but Slats making him out as a saviour that NZ are missing to win this game is weird to say the least.

Well I suppose it isn't without precedent - look at his 140-odd against Sri Lanka at the World Cup 2003 and some of his other knocks. Jacob Oram is another you can say they miss since he is capable of blasting the ball high into the stands and if he got it right at this ground, then out of the ground quite literally.

Fleming out. A waste of an innings and poor shot.

If you are going to go over the top then go straight over the bowlers head.

GONE!

Johnson gets Fleming. Taylor will need to keep going now, and the Kiwis will have to step on it from here one feels!

Pretty disappointing shot from Fleming. Wasn't even a slower ball or anything, just didn't hit it well. Big blow to the chase.

Similar dismissal to Bell's in the last game when he got tied down a bit. Same fielder, even.
