Good bowling performance for Asif. Where everybody else struggles during their comebacks, he takes 4 and 5 wickets hauls. Definitely one for the future. His 3rd 5-wicket haul in 7 matches to go with 3 4-wicket hauls.

International Coach
Pollock = gun. 3702 runs @ 32.19 and 408 wickets @ 23.18.

He's close to being only the second ever player to get 4000 Test runs and 400 Test wickets after Kapil Dev. Next closest was Beefy. He has a better average than Kapil Dev in batting and bowling also.

Why isn't he not often mentioned as one of the best all-rounders ever though?

EDIT: And his player page on Cricinfo = amusing, the family connections is plain insane. 6 FC cricketers.

Could be because he is South African. Their good players are almost always under rated, with the exception of Ntini, who is over rated IMO.

Ntini Overated!!.Come on this guy has been the most consistent fast bowler in the world in the last couple of years.Nearly 300 test wickets at an average of 28 is very, very good IMO.An honest trier who will bowl for long spells in hot conditions and he has just taken his 16th 5 wicket haul which is phenomenal.Has cut down on pace a bit from 3-4 years ago but this has made him a better bowler. Now bowls around the 135-137kph which is equivalent to 84-86mph which is not express.Look at the best fast bowlers ever and realise that they weren't bowling at an express pace.Walsh,McGrath and Ambrose prove this.

Agreed, Kallis is also not considered because he "scores too slowly" or "won't bowl 30 overs a day"

Ntini is rated about correctly, his fitness is superb, and he can come to the party on the flattest wickets

:O Kallis is on FIRA
4 overs 2/8

Pak are effectively 2/-46

need to get 250 more from here... then the Asif/Kaneria show will continue

Umpires have forgotten the LBW rule it seems. Looks like they won't give anything.

This is looking to be a really interesting game, if only pakistan dont mess up on batting, Pakistan should score atleast 250 to 280 more runs, which will mean alot will depend on how asif and kaneria bowl. Once again the obvious: much will count on which team takes the upper hand first session, i have this feeling pakistan will play cautiously till lunch and score around 80 and then they might increase the rate so they will give SA the whole day 5th day with a score of around 270 to chase.

I think the main thing that Pakistan can do is to just bat out the day, playing normally. If they can manage the whole day, they should have 250-280 as godofcricket said, which won't be easy to chase on a 5th day turning pitch.

The game is set up nicely at this point.

Jaques Kallis bowls the most juiciest half-volleys ever which take wickets.

What a champion. I picked he'd get the opener out when he was brought on, I've just watched so much SA cricket over the last 12-18 months its almost like the script was written.
