*Official* English Football Season 2006-07

Solskjaer's 'finished', friend of mine played against him in a reserve game last year and said that he was unbelievable poor and slow and my mate is one to talk, he makes Jamie Carragher look like Obafemi Martins. Decent player for Man Untied over the years but his had some terrible injuries and regardless of his goals this season his actual team play and contributions have been nothing of note. Was nice to see him comeback though, his probably only the 4th Man U player I like alongside Vidic, Ronaldo and Heinze.
Premiership defenders this year would beg to differ. Goals are always a contribution, and, considering he missed a part of the season due to injury, he has a few.

Think it’s a waste of time for clubs such as Blackburn, who don’t have the squad for a successful UEFA campaign let alone a domestic cup competition. Hughes had his priorities straight yesterday and fielded not a particularly good starting eleven, he knows the score and what’s the difference between 3rd or 5th round failure? Money, no not really, we not that desperate and are league safety is far more beneficial then a cup run, even a successful one. Also its rather disheartening to see lower league clubs follow a similar route for whatever reason they maybe and I understand the cup has more importance with lower league supporters but most people who support Premiership clubs very rarely see the excitement of the FA Cup anymore. You get the odd anomaly but Sheffield Untied’s defeat and squad that faced Swansea pretty much summed up what a distraction the cup has become. Also could be rather telling that Sheff Untied stay up come the end of the season and the Watford’s of this world, who did win, go down.

If they got rid of the even more pointless Carling Cup or whatever its called now, opinions may change. And on a entertainment level, the shocks are continually getting less and less 'shocking' and far more predictable, namely Charlton’s defeat to Forest which was about as signposted as it gets.
Pfft, which club doesn't want to win the FA Cup? (Bar Sheffield United this season obviously)

A lot of teams. For one, United having a decent cup run is if anything a disadvantage to us.

Once we have a squad of decent depth again, I won't be so bothered.

That shouldn't mean we don't want to win it at all. I think SAF has experienced enough success in his life to firmly believe it's possible to win the FA Cup and still hold on to the Premiership lead. I know I do. Our squad isn't that small, and with a signing or two we'll be sorted. It's not like prior to date we didn't have a busy schedule already and get through it with much short of a few scratches.

Ferguson has apparently said he might go for the treble this season.

Sunderland have signed Arsenal striker Anthony Stokes for £2million. Given his age and form shown in Scotland, perhaps it was better to loan him out to gain experience in the Championship and seee what he can do (IMO the SPL bar Celtic, Rangers and perhaps Hearts, the SPL is on par with the Championship) and go from there.

I can only presume Wenger knows what he is doing (expect a Sajid Mahmoot like rant from SP). Meanwhile Arsenal striker on loan at Derby Arturo Lupoli could be joining either Milanese club at the end of the season. Phil Bardsley has left Man Utd to join Aston Villa on loan. Good move for him.

Meanwhile West Ham have signed Nigel Quashie. How many more players do they need?

Stokes has been at Arsenal since he was 14, so presumably Wenger has seen quite a bit of him over the years to make a fair and accurate judgement. Pretty good record with the boys his let go over the years Bentley, Sidwell, J Thomas, Pennant, Upson…. Footballers who have done nothing to suggest so far they would have made any sort of impact at Arsenal.

But 16 goals in 18 games is still a fair achievement!
For sure but it's in Scotland and have you seen the standard of defender up there. Glasgow Rangers are second and they have quite possibly the worst defence one can think off.

So wouldn't it have been better off seeing how he would go in a much better divison and standard? Fair enough to trust his judgement though.

I'd sincerely hope not, given he's not even British much less English.

We've signed Sean Gregan permanently. Fantastic news, really confident about the rest of the season now. Shame i'll miss the promotion party

I think Celtic would definitely cut it in the Prem, but from how Rangers are this season they'd only be a playoff Championship side really.

Celtic would get into the UEFA Cup places as a minimum IMO, and would probably give Arse and the Scousers a run for their money for 4th.

Yeah could definitely see them finish in the Euro spots. Rangers have fallen away a fair bit over the last couple of years but it shows how low the quality of the other teams are when only Hearts are anywhere near them really.
