Giles = Vettori
Panesar = Patel
Bracewell = Fletcher

Vettori is picked because he adds to the batting at No 8 just like Giles, while Patel/Panesar is clearly the better bowler and has the record to prove it.

I think you are totally underestimating Vettori's ability with the ball. You watch, wait and listen to how the Aussie commentators go on about how good he is. Richie in particular rates him very highly. And quite frankly, comparisons with Giles are insulting

This is what I don't understand. People have always rated the guy, but how many games has he actually won for us "with the ball" in ODIs? Not many, if any.

Statistics don't lie and his record is awful. You can look as good as you like, but cricket is all about taking wickets for bowlers.

What I'll finish on though, is that if Patel plays a fair amount of games in the Com Bank series, he'll finish up with better figures than Vettori. I'd bet money on that.

Yeah me too. I was bouyant 20 minutes ago and thought we would probably win .Now Im depressed and think our team should not even bother going to the world cup. Surely its better to save money on the plane tickets and not embarrass ourselves. Mind you, that was a nice defensive shot by McMillan , so maybe we will win after all..

If he just made a 50 like he did in Queenstown it would be better than anything anyone else in the NZ lineup has shown. that's risk of dropping players in form I guess, sometimes the players you bring in don't have that form, ie fleming.
