I'm still not quite comfortable with him, he left another one that went unbelievably close to his off stump yesterday. Good innings apart from that though and there's no doubting his potential.

Yeah, he has potential but seems to have a pretty loose technique...can't see him surviving a long time when the ball is moving around, but I could be proven wrong. I'd like NZ to have a real top-class (48+ Test avg) echelon batsman.

I think Fulton has a great deal of talent, but he seems a bit out of sorts at present. He seems to be having knowing where his offstump is which is a bit of a concern. He has been selected in the squad for the upcoming tri series in Aussie so facing the likes of McGrath and co on the Aussie pitches will be a true test for him.

McGrath & co were full-blowing sledgling Fulton after he was dismissed in the ICC Championship Series (leaving the ball alone). They certainly know where his weakness is and will exploit it. Unless he attacks or "finds out" where his off-stump is then he will be in alot of trouble.

Daniel Vettori trying to put some counter pressure thru mind games by suggesting SL were trying to cheat in claiming Ross Taylor's catch - If anything the fielder was entitled to claim the catch because from his entangled position (when he took the catch fumbling from one hand to the other) he had no way of knowing the ball had touched the Ground.

And while some replays suggest so , others suggest his fingers were below the ball always.

It was the Umpire's duty to ask the 3rd Umpire - with help from TV replays - But Tony Hill conclusively said the catch had been taken... if anything its the Umpire at fault , and no way the fielder in this instance... Vettori trying his hand at some Mind games Aussie style ...

Besides this was more than adequately compensated ( Tony Hill -seems to have this nagging quality of trying to compensate one mistake with another - even with Ross Taylor in Napier ) by the Fulton LBW at 6/70 when Fulton was plumb .

Eden Park and Definitely Hamilton ODIs will be also on low scoring pitches ....

Eden Park is on a drop in pitch and has been a low scoring pitch , while Hamilton will be hosting a game after 3 years after the pitch was harshly dealt with following the Indian series of 2002/3 by being taken out of International Cricket hosting.

Since this will be the first ODI after the pitch has been "Re done" , I am inclined to think that will be a low scoring one as well.

Sri Lankans are notorious for struggling on these low scorers, and their lack of application and inability to graft long innings means... they are going to continue to struggle.

I also think the SL Rotation policy should continue as winning or losing this ODI series is not very important , but rather getting a good squad ready for the World Cup.

With that in mind SL should rest Murali as well and bring Bandara , while one of the top 6 should be rested to give Kapugedera a couple of games.

This series is a good opportunity to trial these guys against the NZ trial squad .

Just getting back to Fulton. He's a guy that really frustrates me. I have serious doubts about him to be honest. Like was said before he favours the leg side, which is all well and good when you have bowlers drifting off line but the aussies rarely do that. Anything outside off he just prods at. Good innings yesterday but he was out LBW ( should've been). i would like him to do well but just can;t see it happening against aussie. Not his fault for constantly being selected though!!!!!!

So the fielder doesn't have a way of knowing if it touched the ground, so how is he not in the wrong for claiming a catch then?

It was the fault of the umpire on the ground to not ask the 3rd Umpire. Atleast now, umpires should learn how naked eye fools them. They should take the help of technology when in the tight cases like runouts and ground catches

There seems to be a bit of it going around which is strange considering technology can soon prove the player to be blatantly cheating if they claim a catch that has obviously touched the ground, e.g Dwayne Bravo claiming the catch that bounced half a foot in front of him recently. I'll give Dishan the benefit of the doubt that he didn't actually know whether he caught it but he should have at least said he wasn't sure and then put the ball in the umpires court to send to the 3rd umpire. Having said that, the umpire Tony Hill is a pig-headed fool for not using the technology available. The sooner the umpires are just there to hold the bowlers hats the better IMO

Day nighter ....with possibly some rain interruptions .... Winning the Toss will be again the Clincher in a low scoring game on a drop in pitch, despite the shorter boundaries at Eden Park.

Yes Jason....NZ is smarter in these type of conditions

No rain in the forecast, and with no rain this week the outfield should be really quick.

Lets hope theres lots of runs scored! ( more than 113 anyway!).
Just something of interest i was just told. In his last 20 test innings Vettori is averaging 48 with the bat and 28 with the ball. Compare that to Flintoff's last 20 innings of 33 with the bat and 34 with the ball!........do these stats sound right? If so, good effort that man Vettori!!! He must surely be given the genuine all rounder tag if that's the case!!!

I think he can safely be called a genuine all rounder now but he's not a No. 5
