Smith must be ropable with the groundsman - this pitch is absoutely made to order for the Indians.
I just don't get it. Why would the groundsman do it?

Its like India creating the seamer friendly wicket at Nagpur when Australia toured. They're 1-0 down going into the third test, Australia have the best fast bowling attack in the world, and the groundsman (to Ganguly's disgust) put that pitch out.

I don't necessarily like captains ordering groundsman as to what they want the pitch to be, but sometimes it just doesn't make sense.

I'm shocked at this pitch, looks like the groundsman got his inspiration from the City Road Engineers. India must be having a very nice lunch at the moment.

No wickets down at lunch, not a cloud in the sky, Ganguly's only coming in at #7. The worst India should do here is a draw.

It's supposed to be a home series for SA, what nutter of a groundman thought that preparing a pitch tailor made for the opposition would be a grand idea? Really pissed off! Tar and feather him.

The Wheel is Forever
Sajan Nair pings me with an interesting prospect - Wasim Akram on tv mentions that he is pretty sure the ball is going to reverse when it gets a bit older and when he says so, we better believe him. So that is one thing to look forward too; can the South African bowlers get the ball to reverse is a different question all together.

Pollock getting really pissed off. Yelling at Makhaya, not happy with Smith's field placements and letting him and everyone know.

Good signs for India.

Tell you who can reverse the ball? Andrew Hall. Not playing. Not sure whether Polly or Kallis can, Kallis probably could.

Tell you who else can reverse the ball? Munaf Patel, as he showed in England.

Donald saying Sehwag playing as a spinner.

Well, thats something.
Not necessarily

Saying that because Harbhajan was never going to play (lack of match practice, low on form and confidence) and because Dhoni was not going to play due to his fingers, Sehwag as a spin option (and he's a pretty good one) helped his cause a lot, due to the pitch.

I think a few owe Turbinator an apology actually. ;)
