Yeah I'm quite impressed by these two openers. Jaffer always impresses me and then gets out though so I'm not holding my breath.

I thought Kathik might make a good fist of opening - I've always rated his technique. Not sure he can do it long time whilst keeping in every match though and I don't think he'd get picked as a specialist bat.

Screw the pitch, the guy will get out again fetching something outside off stump, again. And it's not like Gambhir isn't a batsman either. Gambhir deserved a spot in the side, Sehwag deserves to be in India.

Had this been another seaming track, Gambhir > Sehwag easily. This one might crack up a bit and Sehwag is a handy offie, so it's not a terrible move. IMO it's still a bad move because Gambhir deserved a shot, but not too bad.
