How many overs has Sachin bowled recently?Turbinator said:^ Overall Yes, Recent Form No.
In ODIs, yes. Sachin is a dangerous part-timer in ODIs because he only has a few deliveries to bowl and the batsmen need to score runs.silentstriker said:He is OK, just saying IMO Sachin is a better part timer.
Exactly, that's why recent form no.silentstriker said:How many overs has Sachin bowled recently?
I'm not sure about that. In ODI's we both agree, but Sachin can break up partnership with his leg spin (different from Kumble's)...and also the hybrid pace-spin bowling he tried in ODI. I'd like to see him get 1-2 overs of that in tests if the match warrants it.adharcric said:In ODIs, yes. In tets, Sehwag > Sachin easily (as a bowler).
Yes.adharcric said:The reality is that they are both underused in tests. The even bigger reality is that our batting is in deep **** and we should focus on that instead of our part-time bowlers.
Agree with you there completely, but Sehwag IMO is good enough atm to focus on his batting only and still bowl great offspin.adharcric said:In ODIs, yes. Sachin is a dangerous part-timer in ODIs because he only has a few deliveries to bowl and the batsmen need to score runs.

Yes, but he's obviously not focusing hard enough.Turbinator said:Agree with you there completely, but Sehwag IMO is good enough atm to focus on his batting only and still bowl great offspin.
He is not good enough to bat. Let alone bowl.Turbinator said:Agree with you there completely, but Sehwag IMO is good enough atm to focus on his batting only and still bowl great offspin.
Well, tbh I think he is focusing hard, but he is very stubborn as a batsmen. He wants to show the world, with the technique he has right now he can still get out of his slump and can come back strong.adharcric said:Yes, but he's obviously not focusing hard enough.
Thats the problem. He doesn't have the technique. And at this stage in his career, its too late to learn a whole new technique. So he has to go back to domestic cricket and focus on getting his confidence back...and maybe learning how to leave balls better and how not to HIT THE ****ING BALLS AWAY FROM YOUR ****ING BODY!Turbinator said:Well, tbh I think he is focusing hard, but he is very stubborn as a batsmen. He can be stubborn, defiant, resilient or whatever else you'd like to call it, but he's not putting a price on his wicket. That's all that matters at the end of the day.Turbinator said:Well, tbh I think he is focusing hard, but he is very stubborn as a batsmen. Or we could just give him one last chance and put him down the order.silentstriker said:Thats the problem. He doesn't have the technique. He only needs to learn how to leave good deliveries. He obviously isn't going to come back playing front-foot cover drives like Dravid after a few months in domestic cricket.silentstriker said:Thats the problem. He doesn't have the technique. Yea, also not hit the balls away from his body by hanging his bat out to dry. Get behind the line of the ball. Surely thats not a huge adjustment (it isn't, as I've seen him do it before in NZ and Australia).adharcric said:He only needs to learn how to leave good deliveries. He obviously isn't going to come back playing front-foot cover drives like Dravid after a few months in domestic cricket. He just needs to work on a little front-foot (or back-foot, if it works for him) defense to counter the new ball. Eventually the bowlers will offer up tripe outside off and he can do his thing away from the body because that's what he does.
That was his last chance.Turbinator said:Anyways, enough said... If we don't put him down the order atleast let him open one last time.
Yeah that's why I have a comment in that thread too adressed to you and SS. It's a joke though as I said above.adharcric said:Turb, did you just look at the Langer thread for those stats? He does need to play his natural game, but he needs to play out the new ball for a few overs at least and be better in shot selection.
