Went to see the big local derby yesterday: Cambridge City v Histon. Got absolutely drenched, it seriously peed down. Game got abandoned after about 75 minutes but I think the 1-1 will stand, which is probably a decent enough result for City given the teams' respective league positions.

Adjourned to the pub for the Blades/Gooners game, which I'll skirt over quickly except to say how cool was it to see Jagielka go in goal? A return to the 70s! He was actually ok too.

Would have been nice if Arsenal attempted a few shots at Phil, wasn’t until the 90th minute that a pot shot came his way which is frankly ridiculous. Though its good to see Arsenal getting bullied away from home again, got them in a couple weeks time, fingers crossed that Jérémie starts and that we can give them more of the same.

Wasn't/isn't he co-owned by Fiorentina?

They will have to face competition from Lazio, but Inter can offer him CL football and a potential Serie A title (this time won on the pitch) and more wages. Wages never seem to be a problem there
Believe he was but his contract now fully with Ternana is likely to be rescinded in the Italian courts in the next week or so. From 'Goal' "Jimenez’s argument lies in that the 2010 deal he signed is only valid in Serie A and B, and as Ternana are now in Serie C1 the contract is null and void." Sounds like a decent case from Luis...

Also from Goal again, seems like Inter have a few more big name targeted...

Jeez. Did it get called off? Looks at least as bad as the City game.
Remarkably, no. And better still, the Grecians snatched it in the 88th minute.

Going over Exeweb afterwards was priceless. "Tisdale you rubbish dont know your doing. Moxey not Challinor!! Why you take him off!! Stupid!! Sack you now Perryman mobile phone!!" followed by glorious silence when Deano scored the winner.

Javier Zanetti, Dejan Stankovic, and Mariano Gonzalez call all play there...

In fact if Zanetti has to play as a winger to keep his spot in the team since Mancini prefers Maicon.
Yea i know Zanetti can play there, but though Stankovic was more of central player. But now that you tell me that Mancini is prefering Maicon @ RB, thats just killed my day yo..

Merry Christmas Sicilian style.

Palermo director gets Mafia-style goat's head warning

ROME, Dec 31 (Reuters) - The sporting director of Sicilian Serie A side Palermo has received a Mafia-style warning after a run of poor results - a severed goat's head in the post.

The gory gift, reminiscent of the horse's head in the 1972 film The Godfather, arrived wrapped at the home of Rino Foschi on Christmas Eve.

'My first thought was that it was a joke, but it gave my wife a terrible fright. She fainted when she opened the box,' Foschi was quoted as saying in La Gazzetta dello Sport on Sunday.

'I've been living in Palermo for five years and I've never received threats before.

'The people here have always liked me. I feel protected. I sleep easy. I don't think I've got anything to fear.'

Palermo seemed like possible contenders for the Serie A title at the start of the season, but have lost three times and drawn twice in their last seven games to slip back to third, 13 points behind leaders Inter Milan.

Club president Maurizio Zamparini described the goat's head as 'an ugly gesture that offends the city as well as the squad.'

It is not the first time Italian fans have chosen to make their discontent plain in such a macabre fashion.

In 1999, the president of Reggina, then struggling against relegation, received a bull's head in the post along with a threatening letter and a demand for £2.75million.

Didn't Luis Figo get pig heads or something similar chucked at him when he jumped from the dark side from Barcelona to Real Madrid?

What a goal from Crouch, followed up one minute later by Gerrard!

Awesome viewing, that was great.

Reading 4-0 up in the 36th minute. Curbs the messiah not quite living up to the expectations post Pardew! The V-Bomber just scored against Sheff United too - the man loves a relegation battle.

Great win for the 'tics today, sendings off helped but we were all over Forest before they went down to 10..4 wins out of 4 over Christmas, up in to the auto slots one point behind Scunthorpe who we play in 2 weeks. Porter scored another (18 in 22). Couldn't be much better. Was dissapointed in the Forest turnout (1700) as we gave them the whole end which holds 4800 but the rest of the ground was full.

Bring oin Wolves in teh cup next week

By the end of the week, I could be facing the prospect of two horrific 5-0's.

Even better when I tipped them to win and to win 3-0 :D

Although I tipped Man U to win 2-0 and Cristiano Ronaldo to socre the first goal didn't work out for me :@

Meanwhile City have denied speculation about a 13m pound bid for Micah Richards from Chelsea. Also Phil Jagielka has called Arsenal 'big babies' http://soccernet.espn.go.com/news/story?id=398243&cc=3436 (has Pscine been having him a script?)
