Happy to stay retired from Dev League for the time being (may fully retire at the end of the season and bring in Jnr) and if allowed play some grade and some T20 this season.

I dont think it would be right or fair to be seen to jump from one club during the season and Black didnt do anything wrong. Im happy to stay in and around the game though.

Thats fair enough, I'll keep you available for grade and you'll be available for T20, its up to you to decide what you do outside of that.

BARNES OUT
lol @ the implication that Goughy is going to another club without something coming back in return. Even in the old days mid-seasons required compensation (Kearsley to Red, anyone?).

hence my comment here

I suppose if its all about First Class cricket perhaps if Black can come to an agreement with another side I'd agree to a mid season transfer wheather it be for nothing or the exchange of a player.

Liam Goff to Captain Cricketweb Under 19's

With the news today that the youngsters of Cricketweb Land will be taking on World Champions Australia at the end of the month in four matches across the three forms of the games, further exciting news was made public when it was announced that Cricketweb Red Wicketkeeper/Batsman Liam Goff will be the side's new skipper. Despite the 17 year old never playing at this level he was endorsed by the board members as an obvious choice given his standing in the community. His father Brendon is a former test captain and while Liam is still a long way from that standard there are hopes he too will one day represent the XI.

The decision to appoint a rookie to the position over the likes of Bosco Fitzsimmons, Marcuss Deane or Stephen Young will have surprised many, Simon Fitzsimmons has suggested the decision is in the long term interest of the country. "Goff is only 17, by this logic we are expecting to get three years out of him at this level and we will hopefully see him grow into the role, of course there will be times that people question these decisions but we feel it is the right one." One thing going in Goff's favour is his experience batting in the middle order for Red, he has also had the oppourtunity to play alongside two of the finest tacticians in the country in the form of David Kennett and Kingsley Clapham so we are hoping some of that rubs off on him.

The series against Australia kicks off on March 24th with a One Day game and that is then followed by a Twenty20 match and two youth tests.

Cricketweb XI 30 Man Squad for Twenty20 World Cup

Cricketweb XI selectors today finalised their provisional 30 man squad for the Twenty20 World Cup to be held in May, the 30 players selected showcase the quality of short form players available to selectors, with some noteable players missing out it was a tough job to select the squad and will be even tougher knowing it has to come down to 15 before the event. Chairman of selectors Simon Fitzsimmons had this to say, "We are lucky enough to still have our domestic T20 competition before we head off to the World Cup so obviously that series will have a large bearing on the squad picked, at the end of the day the players we have gone with here can get the job done if asked."

While there were some shock inclusions including that of uncapped Blue's rookie Michael Cannon and young Red's batsman John Heads. Unlucky players to miss the cut came in the form of Blue's quick Manan Shah and Colts keeper Bosco Fitzsimmons.
