*Official* India Tour of England 2018

Top order should get a big boost from bairstow not keeping, hopefully he’ll see how it improves his numbers and want to stay there and let Buttler/Foakes take the gloves.
Yes and no they are failing and the weak link of Cook seems gone far bigger to be dropped... Shame. Don't get me wrong I like him but just feel he is underperforming.

He's there on seniority and the fact that there's literally nobody to replace him. If this was a traditional Indian stye team they were playing I would have probably brought Hameed in as I think he could be really useful in Sri Lanka and the Windies, but against this attack he could get low scores and have his confidence messed up again. Still think he's the long term solution but not ready yet so Cook stays for now.

India should play this team for the fourth Test. It's the perfect balance, with proven Test cricketers and a quality, experienced attack.

Vijay
Rahul
Pujara
Kohli
Rahane
Karthik
Ashwin
Jadeja
Shami
Umesh
Ishant

You can't just drop Dhawan, Pant and Bumrah after impressive showings in the last match. For what it's worth, I reckon Kohli should, for the first time in his captaincy, select an unchanged team.

I mean I'm kinda happy that Vijay got dropped, so that Prithvi Shaw's now there. Looks like a potential world-beater.

Shaw is just the next flavour of the month, Vijay is a proven Test cricketer and score heavily in overseas in 2014. That's why I would have given him all five Tests.

Bumrah is an ODI/T20 bowler, not a Test match bowler. His spot should be given to Umesh, who is a real Test match bowler, who actually has outswing and bowls decent lengths and does not leak runs as much.

I'm sorry to see Vijay go; but he had to go.
He has looked terrible for a long time: first in South Africa, then in the home test against Afghanistan (despite scoring a century) and in the first two tests in England.

He scored loads of runs in 2014/15, on challenging tracks in foreign conditions. You can't let him go so quickly. He would have scored a 100 on the flatter pitch of Trent Bridge. In any case, Shaw doesn't have the experience to excel in England. I would have kept Vijay

What does this "would have scored a 100 on flatter pitch" even mean? Firstly the pitch was not flat - someone like Pandya got a fifer. Secondly if flat pitches is what he needs for his hundred, there are 20 other guys in India who can do that better than him. His job was to succeed in the challenging pitches , something he failed to do for 5 matches in a row. What would have an extra couple matches done?

Shaw is not the flavour of the month, he has rather been proclaimed as a future star by many, and has performed well in Ranji Trophy and has performed well for India A (in England).

Vijay 2014 and Vijay 2018 are different batsmen. One could leave and one couldn’t.

If Bumrah ‘leaks runs’, explain to me why he had the joint lowest ER in 1st innings last match and was far more economical than Shami and Ishant in 2nd innings.

In all, Vijay deserved to be dropped, and Bumrah’s place cannot be questioned.

If it was really that flat Cook would have got a hundred.

Has this dude even watched Vijay bay in the last 6 months?

He's looked garbage. Should be nowhere near Test cricket. Jennings and Cook have looked more convincing.

Indians will forever debate their batting line-up. Seems to me you just need to sort your openers out. I'd feel a lot happier if I was Indian than English.

Why? My XI contains the most proven cricketers. They must play if India want to have a chance. Otherwise I can see 4-1.
You have taken out everyone who contributed to a win and you have gone back to the ones who lost us the first two tests. That's just ****ing stupid.
