Torn Between a batting all rounder described as second only to W.g grace(though with a better batting and bowling average) and a very good bowler(a bowling all rounder) of the time who i think flyonthewall was reffering too.

Any suggestions?

Awful scorecard lol.. You blocked off three of my main choices right there. Now I have to think lol..
Apologies for that - I was trying to move the timeline forward though I had no option but to go backwards and pick a player and scorecard that was difficult to work from. Fingers crossed that by the time of our next selections we'll have a bit more choice!

My team so far -

Wilfred Rhodes
W.G Grace
Bobby Peel
Curtly Ambrose

2 Batting all rounders ,one bowling all rounder and one Fast Bowler.
All very good in their respective era's.

Btw,i have now 2 of the 4 great left arm slow bowlers Yorkshire had over the period of 50 years. One can't be picked as he played 9 tests ,but the other one is yet to be picked surprisingly,
Maybe i could him and complete the set.

Next pick will be crucial.

The Other pick i was mentioning would have gotten us into 1880's again ,but Peel gives a option to get back into the 20th century with the next pick.

That other pick is still available but their are other very good picks who can get us back to over 1900 as well.

Not sure how to line em up because Barlow is quite an accomplished opener as well and was apparently quite a good stonewaller on crumbling pitches. Anyway will probably be something like this:

1. Jack Hobbs
2.
3.
4.
5. Stanley Jackson
6. Imran Khan
7. Dick Barlow
8.
9.
10.
11.

decisions, decisions, this is very tough cause I don't want to go for another bowler really, I'll be a few minutes here.

I'll be happy if I get the batsman I was talking about, or one of the 2 left among the famous spin trio (of a certain country)...

Though any of those 3 picks will take place only if NUFAN and Blakus move the timeline quite a bit forward...which seems, as it stands now, a big 'if'...

I've moved the timeframe forward lol but not by that much.

This guy is a steel at this stage - Allan Steel

1st Test: England v Australia at Lord's, Jul 16-17, 1888 | Cricket Scorecard | Cricinfo.com

6 Allan Steel
7
8
9 Fred Trueman
10 Muttiah Muralitharan
11 Charlie Turner
I'm going to sound a bit mean here (lol) but you've actually kind of regressed the timeframe, because Peel's last test was 1896 and Steel's in 1888.

To be fair, by looking at Steel's stats he seems to have been a very good all-rounder but you could have had one of the top batsmen of his era from 1896.

Obviously, you might think I'm talking tripe and probably justifiably but I'm just offering my two cents. :)

Good Pick
I was talking about being torn between Steel and Peel but ultimately i thought i needed a bowling all rounder rather than a batting one.
And it was pushing the timeline forward which you have pushed back again.

Yeah ,that Batsmen would have been a good pick too, certanly as good as steel but would have pushed the timeline ahead.

I know I've basically regressed it, but I might not get another go for the next 25 selections and my last pick I made helped the person after me get Grace, so I didn't want to set people up again.

I didn't bother going for the guy who you've mentioned (I'm 99% sure I know who you mean).
