WI thrash Dutch by 10 wickets
Zac Gelman |The West Indies continued their winning ways in the shorter format of the game, thrashing the Netherlands by 10 wickets in Dublin.
The Netherlands won the toss and elected to bat, but were no match for the West Indies bowlers and were subsequently bowled out for only 80 runs. Alexei Kervezee top scored for the Dutch with 22 runs, which included five fours, but it was far from enough as his team collapsed under him in less than 32 overs.
Dwayne Smith came away from the innings with excellent figures of four wickets for eight runs in his six overs along with youngster Ravi Rampaul who took the two top order wickets of Tom de Grooth and Bas Zuiderent.
The West Indies had no problems in reply, racing away to a 10 wicket win after Chris Gayle smacked six fours and a six on the way to his 32nd ODI fifty as his side won in under 15 overs.
The Dutch have little time to rest before they take on the home side today at Belfast for the second match in the quadrangular series. The Windies will have a days break before their match against Scotland on Thursday.
