We will win the match – Morton
Zac Gelman |With the third Test between England and West Indies going into an exciting fifth day, Runako Morton believes his side can make history by winning the match and keeping the series alive.
“More than likely tomorrow, we will get this score. I know we will win,” Morton told the BBC after a fantastic day from the West Indies and particularly Morton who scored a patient and gutsy 54 in 175 minutes.
“It was a very good team effort, and it started yesterday afternoon when Darren Sammy bowled so brilliantly.
“Shiv, Ramdin and Bravo all chipped in and I got 50-odd off 145 balls.
“You have to put your own personality behind and put your own team in front, so it was good.
“In cricket, you have to play session by session. It was just about batting out the day and seeing where we were at the end of it.”
Should the West Indies chase down the required 154, they will re-write the history books in the process, breaking their previous fourth innings record of 418 to beat Australia in 2003. Interestingly enough, Shiv Chanderpaul made a magnificent 100 to help the West Indies win back then and overnight he is 81 not out with the hopes of the Caribbean resting firmly on his shoulders.
