Watson suffers hamstring injury

Shane Watson has injured his hamstring during Queensland’s one-day game against Western Australia placing him in doubt for the first Ashes Test.

Watson suffered the injury while bowling the first ball of his sixth over and pulled up clutching the back of his right leg.

After talking to captain Jimmy Maher and team-mate Mitchell Johnson, Watson went off the field and is flying back to Brisbane to be assessed by Cricket Australia medical staff tomorrow.

As we reported earlier today, it is the second worry for Australia today with Damien Martyn being ruled out of the same match with an elbow injury.
