Wasim launches diabetes campaign
Zac Gelman |Legendary Pakistani fast bowler Wasim Akram has today revealed plans for a new project with the aim of raising awareness for diabetes.
Wasim, himself a sufferer, has today announced the committee to head the organisation, one that includes former Pakistani cricketing hero, Imran Khan.
The goal of the organisation will be to raise funds to help fight diabetes and promote public awareness of the disease, according to the AFP.
“We would raise funds through charity matches between Pakistan and Indian film stars, and the first match of this (kind) will be played in Dubai on April 6 this year,” he said.
“Around 80 per cent of sufferers don’t know they have this disease, so we want to create awareness and then help them fight it.”
