Warne scores maiden ton
Sudeep Popat |Shane Warne, in a first-class career spanning 15 years and running, has finally scored the elusive maiden century. He brought up the feat during the opening day’s play in the County Championship match between his county Hampshire and Kent.
Warne, Test cricket’s highest wicket-taker at the moment, bettered his previous best score of 99, scored in a Test against New Zealand in 2001, with an unbeaten innings of 107 off just 81 balls.
During the innings that comprised of 16 fours and three sixes, Warne shared a 131-run 8th wicket partnership with debutant Tim Furrows, to rescue the Hants batting. He eventually ran out of partners, to finish unbeaten.
