Vincent out of World Cup

New Zealand opening batsman, Lou Vincent will miss the remainder of the World Cup, after he broke his wrist during a practice session.

Vincent was struck by Shane Bond whilst facing the fast bowler in a net session. X-rays have revealed a fracture, and Vincent joins seamer Darryl Tuffey on the growing Kiwi injured list. Chris Martin was named as Tuffey’s replacement. Batsman Ross Taylor is also an injury concern, having strained his hamstring, playing against Kenya.

Vincent’s presence will be missed, as since his recall to the New Zealand team in January, he has scored 474 runs at an average of 52.66. The right-hander started the World Cup with ducks against England and Kenya, but notched a belligerent hundred against Canada in his most recent innings.

The New Zealand selectors have named Hamish Marshall as a replacement. Marshall will expectedly leave New Zealand for the West Indies this evening.
